John Daniel "Dan" Patterson 66 of Little Rock, passed away suddenly on February 3, 2025. He was born in Camden, Arkansas to Daniel Webster Patterson Jr and Jeanette McAlister Patterson.

Dan was a believer in Jesus Christ and he lived his life as a reflection of this. He was raised in Elliott Baptist Church where he was saved and baptized. He had a great love of The Word of God from an early age which continued to guide and define his life. He was a present and longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Little Rock, where he taught Sunday School and was involved in various ministries.
Dan graduated from Camden Fairview High School in 1977; he excelled in academics and basketball. He graduated from Ouachita Baptist University where he was a member of The Beta Men's Social Club. He was a 38-year employee of Health Scope / UMR, and most recently worked on the OnBase Team as a System Administrator. His greatest passion was for his sons, spending many treasured and special times with them; his boys were the light of his life.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Little Rock, AR, on Saturday, February 15 at 11:00 am.
Dan's wishes were to be cremated. A private family graveside service will be held at Mt Horeb Cemetery in Camden, AR in the future months.
I worked with Dan many years and am deeply saddened by his loss.
He was a very competent and professional person as well as a very devoted father to his three boys.
Dan “the circus man” (high school nickname for his remarkable on the court basketball moves) was my best friend our senior year of high school. Our Moms were best friends in college at Henderson and when we moved to Camden Fairview my junior year were reunited.
Dan was a “doer of the word and not a hearer only”. While high school is a tumultuous time for so many it wasn’t for Dan. He was riveted on our Savior Jesus Christ. He was nice to everyone. I never heard him use one word of profanity. He once told me he never wanted to do anything to “cause a brother to stumble”. We were not only basketball teammates but also in FCA and other classes together. Our shared values of chastity and abstinence from addictive substances further strengthened our bond as friends and brothers.
But Dan was not a stuffy Christian. He had a great sense of humor and like active teenage boys a ravenous appetite. We spent a lot of time together in good clean fun.
Dan was 5th academically in our class but first among the boys. He was Mr. FHS and I’m pretty sure everyone liked him.
We were each other’s groomsmen and stayed in touch over the years but not near as much as we would have liked. Still, when we did reconnect our friendship and brotherhood remained.
When someone is taken so abruptly it’s almost unbearable especially for immediate family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, his church family, and co workers as well as his other friends. We mourn with you. We may not know the why of God’s timing yet, but I’m pretty sure Dan was submissive to God’s will which always includes His timing. I’m certain his reunion was joyous including with family who preceded him.
May you and I follow Dan’s righteous example so that we might be, when we pass, as lovingly received.
A solid Christian man....a great father and husband and exemplary coworker!
Dan has been my friend since we were in college together at Ouachita. We were pledge brothers together and members of the Beta Beta Social Club. We were also fellow members of Calvary Baptist Church in Little Rock. It was always a pleasure to spend time with Dan. I was fortunate to see Dan a lot at Beta gatherings and at church. He was always a very positive person, a good friend and an outstanding Christian man. He so proud of his three sons and cared about them greatly. Dan, I’m going to miss you brother. However, I know that as fellow Christians, we will see each other again!
I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a wonderful human being so young. Dan was always willing to help anyone with his incredibly calm demeanor and big heart. I don’t think I ever heard a negative word come out of his mouth in more than 28 years of working with him. He was an amazing person who could solve virtually any problem. My condolences to his family and friends. May his memory be a blessing.
Dan was a great friend and co worker for over 30 years. He was always there to assist with any file feed issue that I may have had. He was super sweet and kind. We would laugh and joke about work I called him Dan the Man because he was always there to solve any work issue that was there and needed solved right away. He was a great asset to the company and will be greatly missed.
I knew Dan for over 25 years as a colleague and friend. During that time he became virtually a brother to me. It is impossible to overstate the quality of person he was. His integrity, decency, strength, and reliability served as an example for us all. One constant in the entire time I knew him was his enormous and unwavering love for his sons. He frequently spoke of how proud he was of all three of them.
It is hard to believe he has passed from this Earth; he was such a pillar of strength and rational calmness that I subconsciously expected his lifespan to rival Methuselah’s. His faith and spirit were so great while he was here that it makes me smile to think about their magnitude now.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to Noah, Micah, Eli, and the rest of Dan’s family. We all miss Dan, but we also all know that he is now in a place of unimaginable beauty and peace.
So grateful for Dan’s love for his sons and his example of Christian faith! He wil be greatly missed.
May his soul Rest in Peace
Dan was such a pleasure to work with. He always gave us 120%. He learned quickly and really enjoyed his job. I know his sons were his world, he enjoyed spending quality time with them. Dan will be missed.
Dan started out as a co-worker that quickly became a friend. He was quick to assist with any issue, and always pleasant to be around. I remember when he & his family came out to my home to adopt 2 barn kittens. His boys were so excited that day and seemed to enjoy petting the horses and getting to go home with 2 kitties.
Although I am no longer with the company, I know he is missed by his co-workers.
I will continue to keep his sons in my prayers. Noah, Micha & Eli were his entire world. To his sons, you were truly the center of his world!!
I got to know Dan at OBU and he was a BETA Brother and a great guy. We got to reconnect at our monthly Beta luncheons and it was obvious in our conversations how much he loved his boys and how proud he was of them. Dan will be missed and I pray for peace during this difficult time.
Dan was a good friend and a fellow classmate at Ouachita. We were pledge brothers in 1979 joining the Beta Beta Social Club. He was a very soft spoken guy and loved his boys tremendously. I will certainly miss his friendship and times together. Best wishes to the family!
Dan was a great friend and co-worker. We had enjoyed many years as neighbors and time on the job for Burgett and Dietrich and it's various names. He was a joy to know and work with. I know his sons have been prepared properly to accept their dad's graduation into his eternal home, and should be prepared to joy him one day.
