Billie Joe Blevins passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the age of 90. Bill was born January 8, 1934 to Elmer D. and Lexa (Abel) Blevins at home in White Oak Hollow. He married the love of his life, Dorothy (Taylor) Blevins on April 9, 1960. Together they had three children. He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather, known to his children and great-grandchildren as Pa/The Wizard. Bill Blevins was a lifelong resident of Boone County.
Bill was a faithful member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church until his health prevented him from attending church. He taught Men's Sunday School Class up into his 80's. Faithful describes him best. Faithful to God, faithful to family, faithful to his country.
Bill had a love for heavy equipment. He started his career as soon as he graduated from high school. He worked with his brother on several roads in the area. Bill started as a heavy equipment instructor at Twin Lakes Vo-Tech (North Arkansas College) in 1970. During his tenure there, Bill developed many lifelong friendships with students. Together they completed dirt work on many sites in the area including Boone County Airport, Flippin Airport, Marshall Airport, North Arkansas College, Harrison School and Bergman School, as well as others. In 2019, North Arkansas College awarded Bill the Board of Trustees Award for outstanding service.
Farming and gardening were his passions and he spent many hours working on the farm on Highway 281. His daily enjoyment was checking cows. Bill loved the outdoors. You could often find him outside whittling under a shade tree. He loved to plant a big garden and share the produce with neighbors and friends. Bill loved to fish, hunt and read a good western.

Remembering Billie Joe brings back a lot of fond memories. My last conversation with him had us laughing about me being an “honorary cousin”.

Praying for Jesus' comfort and care during this time.
I remember a time when we stopped by for a visit on our way back from a camping trip. We sat out in the backyard under a big tree and both Bill's talked about their days from Twins Lake Vo-Tech and their love of cattle and heavy equipment for a couple hours. After visiting for quite a while we fixed sandwiches then took a tour of "their place". He was such a joy to be around. Happy with life. Bill has the utmost respect for "BJ". Grateful for all he was taught about heavy equipment and cattle. Very fond memories of helping BJ on his farm after school and on weekends. BJ will be missed but remembered for all the good things in life he did. We are so sorry for the loss of this gentleman. May God comfort BJ's family during this time of loss. Bill & Sherri Todd.

The Blevins farm and family are part of the lore of my childhood in Harrison. When Jesus said "the salt of the earth" he was talking about Mr Blevins. His influence for good will never die, and he will be remembered always for a blessing. To Mrs Blevins, the family and all who loved him, be of good cheer! "And so shall we ever be with the Lord."
Dorothy, I send you and all your family my deepest sympathy and best wishes. Your family have always been dear to me and mine, and I have wonderful memories of times spent with you long ago. My prayers are for God's presence to bring comfort and healing.
I am so sorry for your loss. I am keeping you all in my prayers

You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
Blevins family,
So sorry for your loss. Billie Joe was my dad’s ( Vernon Patton) instructor when he took the heavy equipment course at Twin Lakes Vo-Tech many years ago. My sisters and I remember my dad talking about Billie Joe fondly.
May the God of all comfort bring comfort as only he can.
So sorry for your loss. Prayers for all the family.
