January 8, 1934 - January 2, 2025

Billie Joe Blevins passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the age of 90. Bill was born January 8, 1934 to Elmer D. and Lexa (Abel) Blevins at home in White Oak Hollow. He married the love of his life, Dorothy (Taylor) Blevins on April 9, 1960. Together they had three children. He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather, known to his children and great-grandchildren as Pa/The Wizard. Bill Blevins was a lifelong resident of Boone County.

Bill was a faithful member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church until his health prevented him from attending church. He taught Men's Sunday School Class up into his 80's. Faithful describes him best. Faithful to God, faithful to family, faithful to his country.

Bill had a love for heavy equipment. He started his career as soon as he graduated from high school. He worked with his brother on several roads in the area. Bill served in the United States Army for 2 years from 1954-1956 and was stationed in Occupied Germany. He worked for McClinton Inc. in Missouri and Arkansas for 14 years. Bill started as a heavy equipment instructor at Twin Lakes Vo-Tech (North Arkansas College) in 1970. During his tenure there, Bill developed many lifelong friendships with students. Together they completed dirt work on many sites in the area including Boone County Airport, Flippin Airport, Marshall Airport, North Arkansas College, Harrison School and Bergman School, as well as others. In 2019, North Arkansas College awarded Bill the Board of Trustees Award for outstanding service.

Farming and gardening were his passions and he spent many hours working on the farm on Highway 281. His daily enjoyment was checking cows. Bill loved the outdoors. You could often find him outside whittling under a shade tree. He loved to plant a big garden and share the produce with neighbors and friends. Bill loved to fish, hunt and read a good western.
