of Marion, AR
May 20, 1942 - December 3, 2024
William Thomas Bius (Bill) passed away peacefully at home on December 3, 2024. He had many professional and personal achievements to be proud of. He was an exceptionally bright and talented businessman and an all-around wonderful person.
Bill was born in Memphis, Tennessee on May 20, 1942 to parents, Ferdinand Lafayette Bius and Hope Richards. Bill Richards helped to make him the man he is today. Bill graduated from White Station High School in 1960 and went on to attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He has three children; Stacy, Steven and Jason. Bill and his partner, Pat Turns established West Memphis Fence and Construction Company in 1967 in West Memphis, Arkansas.
Bill and Pat went on to make a huge success out of West Memphis Fence and Construction by leading the way with small and large projects in the greater Memphis area and surrounding areas. Their reputation has grown to be nationally renowned with the help of Bill's two sons, Steven and Jason. West Memphis Fence paved the way as well in fencing and security with projects up and down the eastern seaboard.
In 1996, Bill married Cindy and another passel of kids came along, Cindy's children, Mica and Morgan.
Bill's influence and reputation preceded him at all times in business as a leader in the industry. His influence and reputation also preceded him at all times in his personal life.
He will be remembered for his generosity, love and heartfelt passion for his family-especially for helping his children and grandchildren understand that life owed them nothing. With a tenacious spirit, they should work hard and earn what they deserve. Life was never intended to be easy and one's own self-pity will destroy one's goals.
He believed that God made a level playing field and He expects us all to follow Him and flourish. He worked to ensure his family had everything they needed to succeed. He believed in higher education and made it his mission to put as many of them through school as he could, keeping them debt-free. While their success was very important to him, he made it clear the responsibility and work ethic had to be theirs. He insisted they understand what was important in life; God, family and good friends.
He enjoyed Poker Point Hunting Club, especially with his buddies. He briefly spent time in a bowling league with The Poker Point Peacocks. He was a long-standing member of the Memphis in May barbecue fest as an original team member from the start. He enjoyed traveling and cheering for the Razorbacks (as a former Memphis State fan). He loved to play golf and tennis at Meadowbrook Country Club. He enjoyed a good book, a great Western and any opportunity to story-tell about his life's adventures. For those that knew him, when you walked into a crowded room you knew he was there when you heard his bellowing and infectious laugh which brought out the best in everyone.
Most importantly, Bill was a loving husband, father and friend; liked by most and loved by all. Bill was a stable figure, mentor and role model to many.
Bill is survived by his wife, Cindy; their children, Stacy Featherston (Jim), Steven Bius (Missy), Jason Bius (Jana), Mica Morales (Zach) and Morgan Manning (Kristen); as well as his sister, Karen Shea.
Also, their grandchildren, Franklin, Anna Katherine, Sarah Grace, Brittany, Megan, Eme Claire, Payne, Katelyn, Rook, McKenna, Mitchell, Miles and Marin along with 10 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and Arkansas Children's Hospital.

I met Bill in the 70's after I learned my son Brad and his youngest son Jason had become close friends and the rest is history. You knew you were in the room with Bill when you heard his distinctive, thunderous laugh. Never a dull moment when he was around. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family and friends and Bill, we sill see each other again one day.....
I am so proud of Bill, Cindy and their family. Bill was very smart, hard worker and a mentor to all. He was a true gentleman.

Cindy, I’ve known you ever since the 7th grade in West Memphis. You’ve always been special to many of us as the perpetual cheerleader. I wish I could conjure up the perfect witty words to cheer you up. I can only imagine how hard it must be to lose a spouse.
But I do know this: Heaven waits for those that love the Lord. I’m quite sure that Bill loved the Lord very much so we know he is in the presence of Jesus Christ right now. God bless you and your family dear classmate.
Cindy,
Words can't express how sorry I am that you have lost your best friend and love. Knowing your faith and love of the Lord, you will lean on Him for your comfort. We send our prayers to you with love.

Cindy, I'm so very sorry to hear this news about Bill. It's so hard to lose our loved ones on this earth, but oh, the joy of their homegoing! Praying for you and your family.
Cindy, I have been in Bible Study with you, however I doubt you know me. Our daughter, Carla Shoemake Jenkins was a classmate of Bill's daughter, Stacy. We have lived in Marion since 1974 moving here from Slidell,La. The Bius family has been a part of Marion since we moved here. Our children went to school with their children. I did not know Mr. Bius, but did know the Mother of his children. I offer my sympathy to you and the children and want you to know I share your loss with all of you. It is difficult to face life without our loved ones presence and particularly our immediate family. I pray for each of you that comfort to you all will come from those who are friends and extended family. God be with you now and your days ahead. I will be thinking and praying for all as you go through this time together and remember God promises he is always with us.Most sincerely, Chris Shoemake
Cindy and family, Larry and I are so sorry for your loss. We’re praying for God’s comfort and peace for you all at this time and in the days to come.
I am so saddened by this, know that you are in my prayers and thoughts.
Dear Cindy & family, my heart breaks for your loss. I was Bills babysitter for his sons when I was a teenager. Lots of memories. Please know that you are in our prayers & thoughts. Continue to lean on Jesus as He will hold you always.
Please let us know if we can do anything.
Love, your neighbors,
Nannette & OD
