William Thomas Bius

of Marion, AR

May 20, 1942 - December 3, 2024

William Thomas Bius (Bill) passed away peacefully at home on December 3, 2024. He had many professional and personal achievements to be proud of. He was an exceptionally bright and talented businessman and an all-around wonderful person.

Bill was born in Memphis, Tennessee on May 20, 1942 to parents, Ferdinand Lafayette Bius and Hope Richards. Bill Richards helped to make him the man he is today. Bill graduated from White Station High School in 1960 and went on to attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He has three children; Stacy, Steven and Jason. Bill and his partner, Pat Turns established West Memphis Fence and Construction Company in 1967 in West Memphis, Arkansas.

Bill and Pat went on to make a huge success out of West Memphis Fence and Construction by leading the way with small and large projects in the greater Memphis area and surrounding areas. Their reputation has grown to be nationally renowned with the help of Bill's two sons, Steven and Jason. West Memphis Fence paved the way as well in fencing and security with projects up and down the eastern seaboard.

In 1996, Bill married Cindy and another passel of kids came along, Cindy's children, Mica and Morgan.

Bill's influence and reputation preceded him at all times in business as a leader in the industry. His influence and reputation also preceded him at all times in his personal life.

He will be remembered for his generosity, love and heartfelt passion for his family-especially for helping his children and grandchildren understand that life owed them nothing. With a tenacious spirit, they should work hard and earn what they deserve. Life was never intended to be easy and one's own self-pity will destroy one's goals.

He believed that God made a level playing field and He expects us all to follow Him and flourish. He worked to ensure his family had everything they needed to succeed. He believed in higher education and made it his mission to put as many of them through school as he could, keeping them debt-free. While their success was very important to him, he made it clear the responsibility and work ethic had to be theirs. He insisted they understand what was important in life; God, family and good friends.

He enjoyed Poker Point Hunting Club, especially with his buddies. He briefly spent time in a bowling league with The Poker Point Peacocks. He was a long-standing member of the Memphis in May barbecue fest as an original team member from the start. He enjoyed traveling and cheering for the Razorbacks (as a former Memphis State fan). He loved to play golf and tennis at Meadowbrook Country Club. He enjoyed a good book, a great Western and any opportunity to story-tell about his life's adventures. For those that knew him, when you walked into a crowded room you knew he was there when you heard his bellowing and infectious laugh which brought out the best in everyone.

Most importantly, Bill was a loving husband, father and friend; liked by most and loved by all. Bill was a stable figure, mentor and role model to many.

Bill is survived by his wife, Cindy; their children, Stacy Featherston (Jim), Steven Bius (Missy), Jason Bius (Jana), Mica Morales (Zach) and Morgan Manning (Kristen); as well as his sister, Karen Shea.

Also, their grandchildren, Franklin, Anna Katherine, Sarah Grace, Brittany, Megan, Eme Claire, Payne, Katelyn, Rook, McKenna, Mitchell, Miles and Marin along with 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and Arkansas Children's Hospital.
