Larry Paul Apple, 79, passed away in Batesville, AR, on April 9, 2024.

He was born October 14, 1944, in Batesville, Arkansas, to Woodrow and Lois Apple. He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Apple, his mother, Lois, and a sister, Londa Lue.

He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 53 years, Diane Apple, and two sons, Brad Apple and wife Charlotte, and Brandon Apple and wife Kaci of Batesville and three grandchildren, Benjamin Apple, Adalyn Apple, and Magnolia Apple.

Larry graduated from Southside High School and went on to attend Arkansas College. He was drafted and served as a military policeman stationed mainly in Germany for two years.

He became a talented welder and fabricator known in the Batesville community for his skill. He worked for over 40 years at Greenfield Sheet Metal and fabricated for most businesses in the area. He was known as a hard worker and loved to do for others.

He loved music. He and his boys Brad and Brandon played all over the southeast for many years at bluegrass festivals and the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View. He had a passion for gardening and was in his happy place riding on his tractor. He raised okra in his garden each year and provided okra to many of the farmer's markets in the area and his family and friends. He also loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed being in the outdoors.

We traveled many a road together in our youth and remained good friends over the past 79 years. Such short years! Playing music together as the McHue Rockabilly Combo and dragging Main Street up and down on Saturday night are special memories. We rode the range together as children playing cowboys against all the bad guys and now it is time for us to hang up our spurs and go home. Rest in peace my ole pal. You will be missed by all. What a legacy!

Larry and I were together as buddies and friends at Southside School from grades 1 thru12. We would spend the night with each other on many occasions. He loved music and so did I. We saw each other a few times after high school. Growing up as the dearest of friends we never lost contact. A good Friend, he can never be replaced in my heart.

Diane, Brandon, and Brad,

I'm so sorry for your loss. Larry was such a great person. My family thought a lot of him. My Uncle Larry and my grandpa both always spoke highly of him and considered him not only as a valued employee off Greenfield & Son Sheetmetal, but also as a wonderful friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. May God give you peace and comfort.

My thoughts, prayers, and condolences to all of the Apple family. Larry was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. He was especially kind to me when we were all kids playing music. I’ve never forgotten it. Wishing you all peace and comfort.

Larry and me go back fifty-five plus years. He showed me the first chords that I ever learned on a guitar. He was a very smart and industrious man......always had the biggest and best gardens.
Prayers for peace and comfort to the family.
