Larry Paul Apple, 79, passed away in Batesville, AR, on April 9, 2024.
He was born October 14, 1944, in Batesville, Arkansas, to Woodrow and Lois Apple. He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Apple, his mother, Lois, and a sister, Londa Lue.
He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 53 years, Diane Apple, and two sons, Brad Apple and wife Charlotte, and Brandon Apple and wife Kaci of Batesville and three grandchildren, Benjamin Apple, Adalyn Apple, and Magnolia Apple.
Larry graduated from Southside High School and went on to attend Arkansas College. He was drafted and served as a military policeman stationed mainly in Germany for two years.
He became a talented welder and fabricator known in the Batesville community for his skill. He worked for over 40 years at Greenfield Sheet Metal and fabricated for most businesses in the area. He was known as a hard worker and loved to do for others.
He loved music. He and his boys Brad and Brandon played all over the southeast for many years at bluegrass festivals and the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View. He had a passion for gardening and was in his happy place riding on his tractor. He raised okra in his garden each year and provided okra to many of the farmer's markets in the area and his family and friends. He also loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed being in the outdoors.
Larry was known as a nice guy that everyone liked. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He especially loved his family and would light up talking about his sons, grandson, and granddaughters and spending time with them. He was a great father, grandfather, husband, and friend.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024, with a memorial service immediately following at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville with Mark Wilhite officiating.
Memorials may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
