Donald Eugene Goodwin, 88, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2024.
Donald was born November 20, 1935 in Searcy, Arkansas to Winfred Edson and Clarice Marie Goodwin. To most, he was affectionately known as Uncle Donald.
Uncle Donald married Anna Marie Wellinghoff on November 3, 1956. They had no children, but he was an amazing uncle to his nieces and nephews.
Uncle Donald served in United States Army. He was an exemplary hard worker. He was part owner of the Carter and Goodwin Radiator repair shop. Long after retirement, he volunteered his time at the St. Edward thrift store where he worked until his last days.
Uncle Donald enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and family vacations.
Uncle Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife Anna Marie; brother Jearl "Bill" Goodwin; sisters in law Elena Wellinghoff, Rita Wellinghoff, Mary Frances Wellinghoff; and brothers in law Herman Wellinghoff and Joseph Wellinghoff.
Uncle Donald will be forever loved and remembered by his sisters in law LeAnn Wellinghoff and Venia Wellinghoff; brother in law George Wellinghoff; nieces Jennifer Philpott, Debbie (John) Davidson, Ann (Chad) Sudmeyer; nephews John Wellinghoff and Paul (Patty) Wellinghoff; great niece Leah Philpott; great nephews Jordan (Torrie) Langston and Spencer (Laura) Langston; great-great nephews Jake Langston and Shepherd Langston; great-great nieces Caroline Langston, Landry Langston, and Scarlett Langston; and many close friends.
Uncle Donald was a strong person that did not let his physical ailments keep him from enjoying life and being of service to others. While we will miss him dearly, our hearts are glad that he is now pain-free.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 10th at 10:00 AM at St. Edward Catholic Church, Little Rock, Arkansas. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 AM at St. Edward Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Manjarrez officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 PM at St. Boniface Catholic Church cemetery in Bigelow, Arkansas.

Don has been my good neighbor for the past 10 years & I will miss him dearly….I appreciate so much his kind sweet soul…
I want to send my heartfelt condolence’s to his family…may you always find comfort in your memories
LeAnn and the Wellinghoff and Ritter Families: May God bless you at this time of loss. Donald was a hard-working volunteer at St. Edward's. He was ever-present at the St. Edward's Thrift Store as the volunteer who first took in the donations of clothes, furniture, trinkets and other "treasures". He had that always present radiant smile and calm manner that put people at ease and made you feel welcome. He had such a young appearance that I was stunned to learn that he was 88 years old! I last saw him at his post in the first classroom of the old school a few days before he passed away. He greeted me with that warm smile of his as I delivered my donations. I will remember that always! May he Rest in the Peace of Christ with all of our Loved Ones who have ascended to Heaven. Reg Rogers St. Edward's School (Little Rock) Class of 1973
My heartfelt sympathy to the family during this sad time. Donald was such a wonderful man. I will always remember his smile and his kindness. He had a servant's heart, always willing to help others. I will never forget the kindness he showed my parents and his help with their house after I moved them to Jonesboro. I am so sad that I won't be able to attend the service. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope all the happy memories bring you peace and comfort during this difficult time.
Uncle Donald was my “partner in crime” at the thrift shop at Saint Edward’s. We would people watch through the windows, have adventures in unpacking items brought into the shop, and talking about different things from our childhood. I will miss him very much, room # 1 will never be the same.
Kind and gentle are the words I would use to describe Uncle Donald. He was loved.
Don was a good friend. We tried to meet about ever six weeks at Andy’s to eat breakfast after we retired.
Long- long friends never forget Don !!!! Can’t say enough see you again!!
Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend services, but am greatful to have known you. I look forward to seeing you again beyond the pearly gates. Rest in peace, Uncle Donald.
