Johnny Gilbert Biggs

of Bryant, AR

April 2, 1937 - January 25, 2024

Johnny Gilbert Biggs, 86, of Bryant, Arkansas went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 25th, 2024 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ora Bess Biggs and close cousin, Virginia Sue Tatum. Johnny was born on April 2nd, 1937 in Meridian, Mississippi. He attended high school in Hickory, Mississippi, then attended Mississippi College and received his Masters degree from LSU. While at Mississippi College he met Joyce and they were soon married.

Johnny's life work was as the Director of Arkansas Baptist Children and Family Ministries where he served for 27 years. During his administration, in addition to the Arkansas Baptist Home for Children in Monticello, multiple offices were opened to serve children and families throughout Arkansas. In 1989 the Boys Ranch was opened in Harrison, Arkansas to minister to teenage boys. After ''retirement'' he served 5 years as the interim administrator at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. He continued his mission to serve others through Elder Independence by helping Senior Citizens remain in their own homes.
Johnny served in many ministries throughout his life of service including Disaster Relief and Pathway to Freedom Ministry.
He loved his church and faithfully served in many positions at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church.

He loved traveling, music, reading, drinking coffee with his buddies, going out for dinner, fellowshipping with his friends and watching Razorback Sports. His favorite pastime involved attending his five grandchildren's activities and events. His most recent pride and joy are his seven great-grandchildren, ages three and under. Johnny knew God had a purpose and plan for his life and prayerfully sought His direction. He had a gentle spirit and led by example. His joy for life and laughter were contagious. He was always smiling and encouraging others with his words and sense of humor. His life exemplified the importance of following Christ and serving others. His gentle strength, patience, kindness and generosity he showed others were genuine reflections of his heart.

Johnny is survived by his loving Wife of 63 years, Joyce Biggs; Daughters, Jenny Luningham (David), Janis Masters ( Scott); Grandchildren, Justin Luningham (Katie Jo), Danielle Luningham Milner (Jett), Taylor Masters (Katy), Dylan Masters (Alyssa) and Austin Masters; Great Grandchildren, James and Lily Mae Luningham, Bella Joyce Milner, Jax and Beau Masters, Sanford and Wallace Masters.

Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 1st at 11:00 at Geyer Springs FBC. Visitation will begin at 10:00 at Geyer Springs FBC.

We can’t begin to tell you our feeling for Johnny Biggs. He and Joyce have been our best friends for 50+ years. We have gone to church together, traveled numerous places together, eaten tons of meals together and have played countless games of canasta.
He was like a brother to us and we loved him dearly. You will never know how much we will miss him. May the Lord give you peace in knowing you will see him again! Until then goodbye JOHNNY GILBERT!!!

Joyce,, and Family... Kim and I are heartbroken to her that Johnny has went to be with the Lord, but celebrate that wonderful blessing in his life of service to our country and to Christ. We'll miss seeing him garden and work on such a beautiful home as our neighbor and friend. My God continue to keep you close in your sorrow. We're just a door away for anything...

We were privileged to know and love Mr. Johnny! He and Mrs. Joyce are some of our favorites and were always a delight to be around! He was a godly example and witness to many and will be missed. Our condolences and prayers to Mrs. Joyce and the whole family. So thankful for the hope we have been given through Jesus Christ and the knowledge that this separation is temporary for those in Christ.
