He is preceded in death by his mother, Ora Bess Biggs and close cousin, Virginia Sue Tatum. Johnny was born on April 2nd, 1937 in Meridian, Mississippi. He attended high school in Hickory, Mississippi, then attended Mississippi College and received his Masters degree from LSU. While at Mississippi College he met Joyce and they were soon married.
Johnny's life work was as the Director of Arkansas Baptist Children and Family Ministries where he served for 27 years. He continued his mission to serve others through Elder Independence by helping Senior Citizens remain in their own homes.
Johnny served in many ministries throughout his life of service including Disaster Relief and Pathway to Freedom Ministry.
He loved his church and faithfully served in many positions at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church.
He loved traveling, music, reading, drinking coffee with his buddies, going out for dinner, fellowshipping with his friends and watching Razorback Sports. His favorite pastime involved attending his five grandchildren's activities and events. His most recent pride and joy are his seven great-grandchildren, ages three and under. Johnny knew God had a purpose and plan for his life and prayerfully sought His direction. He had a gentle spirit and led by example. His joy for life and laughter were contagious. He was always smiling and encouraging others with his words and sense of humor. His life exemplified the importance of following Christ and serving others.
