Ray was an unforgettable friend from my youth. We commuted together to UALR and had great fun practicing our sarcasm on each other. I want by one morning to pick him up and waited while he finished getting ready for the day (I was always early and he was always late). He had this old violin laying on the sofa that I picked up and attempted to play. I scratched out part of an old fiddle tune. He came out of the bathroom and said something like, "that sounds like a sack full of cats." He gave me that old fiddle. Ray, I still have it and it is a lasting memory of our friendship. God bless your memory to your friends and family.
Goodbye Ray. 70 years is a long time to know someone and your passing leaves a hole in my heart.
Truly one of a kind you leave many fond memories for me from our trips on the Buffalo river to our romp across South America.
Rest in peace my friend.
My sister, Peggy Morton, called with the sad news. Ray was a true spirit who stayed with me in the 70's along with Terry Axley for a few days. He kept me in stitches, even though he was slightly messy. They both were adventuresome with gems from South America. He was a classmate, a class wit, and gifted artist, I will miss him, and his scooter in the old Harps grocery store. He knew all the news and would liven up any place. So sorry about this.
Prayers to the family! It saddened my heart to go in to work to find out one of my favorites had transition home. Mr. Watson as I would often call him would remind me that was his dad & call him Ray! Ray loved reading his history books & would always tell me about his days working on the ship bc he knew I love cruising. Thank you Ray for your service & always reminding me that I was one of the best worker! I know you’re still reading & drinking some GOOD hot coffee :)
Ray was an original. He valued like-minded people who had stepped out of the proverbial box. He was my cool cousin whom I adored. Part George Carlin part Peter O'Toole part Scrooge. He had an original sayn' that he valued as profound and clever...that he believed in "death after life". I wonder what he is saying now I'll bet it's with a cheeky smile. Hugs
