In Loving Memory of Allene Doris Knedlik
April 9, 1949-May 26, 2023
Allene Doris Knedlik, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed from this life at home in Gamaliel, Arkansas on May 26th, 2023 at the age of 74. Allene was born on April 9, 1949 to Herbert and Doris George in Coffeyville, Kansas and grew up there, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew her.
In 1967 she graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School and spent one year at Coffeyville Community College. In 1968, Allene married Ronald Knedlik and together they embarked on a journey that took them to Lawrence, Kansas, where she attended University of Kansas part time. A move to Tulsa, Oklahoma followed, where she attended the University of Tulsa for one year. Moving on to Terlton and later Yale, Oklahoma, she attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1972. The couple later relocated to Midland, Texas, where their children, Sarah and Matt were born. Afterward, pursuing opportunities, their family moved to Eagle River, Alaska, where their youngest child, Rebekah, was born. In 1978, they decided to return to their home in Kansas. Allene dedicated her time to raising her children before starting substitute teaching for a few years in Caney and Coffeyville, Kansas. She began full-time work as Director of Adult Basic Education at Coffeyville Community College and later as the Dean of Academic Affairs. Allene worked at Coffeyville Community College for 13 years before leaving to become Vice President at Neosho County Community College. While working, she attended Pittsburg State University for her Master of Science degree in 1987 and continuing her education, she graduated with a PhD from Kansas State University in 2003. She retired from work in 2007 as the Vice President from Allen County Community College.
Allene was a woman of unwavering principles and remarkable character. She was deeply committed to her faith and an active member of the Church of Christ, devoting over 50 years to teaching children, ladies' classes and eagerly volunteering wherever help was needed.
During their retirement years, Allene and Ron built their own home on her great grandparent's original homestead in Gamaliel, Arkansas. Allene enjoyed cooking and baking with her granddaughters and watching all the grandkids play sports over the years. She also enjoyed the experience of gardening, canning and dehydrating fruits and vegetables in Alaska, Kansas and Arkansas.
Allene D. Knedlik will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, strength and dedication will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

She gave me a chance. I miss her dearly and thank of her often.
So so sorry for your loss! My condolences to all and God Bless You All!
Went to school at West Coffeyville with Allene and we spent a few nights with each other as kids. She was funny and sweet and will be missed greatly. Prayers for Ron, her children, grandchildren and friends for peace and comfort.
I'm so sorry to learn about Allene's passing. She had an amazing ability to see in others what they could not yet see in themselves. Allene was the first person to use the words "when you become a college president" to me. Even then, I had no idea how she could see my potential. But I knew I wasn't ever going to let her down. She was tremendously courageous, and no task was too tall to tackle in the name of student success. I'm so thankful Sasha and I were able to visit her and Ron at the homestead they built for themselves. I recall so many stories of the trips they took to prepare the land prior to retirement. Unfortunately, there are far too many like Allene left.
We are so saddened to learn of Allene’s passing. She was such a precious lady. It was always such a happy visit when we got to see her and Ron at the Gamaliel Church.
She was always smiles, no matter what she might be going through. And Ron has always been the same way, always laughing and smiling.
We will be thinking of Ron and his family, with love and sympathy.
While on God's earth, Allene was a light who was not afraid of putting on the whole armor of God. She was truly an example of the virtuous woman we read about in Proverbs 31. Our lives have an empty void where Allene used to be, but, as Allene often posted on Sunday mornings, I am confident that she is looking forward to meeting with the saints in our heavenly eternal home.
To Ron, Sarah, Rebekah, Matthew, and all your families, may the peace of God that surpasses all understanding fill your hearts and give you comfort. May you know the countless lives Allene has touched. Her impact on my life and numerous others will never be forgotten. I love you, and I continue to pray for each of you.
Love,
Christy Lawrence

Prayers of peace.
Our prayers are with you all.
Our condolences to the family but we take comfort in knowing that we'll get to see Allene again at her heavenly home when the time comes. Tom remembers being a computer technician at Allen Community College and Allene took notice of his passion for sharing the night sky with others and encouraged him to create an online astronomy course for the college, which he did and successfully taught for several years. He now uses his telescope to show the night sky to thousands of people each year, thanks to Allene's gentle nudge in the right direction.
We shared many good times when she was at NCCC. We also fought a good fight to bring online learning to the college.
My heartfelt Sympathy to Ron and the family. Allene was a beautiful person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. ðŸ™â¤ï¸
