Terri Lynn Tyner

of Jonesboro, AR

July 12, 1964 - April 18, 2023

Terri Lynn (McKnight) Tyner, 58, of Jonesboro passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at St Bernard's Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born July 12,1964 in Jonesboro to Paul and Loretta McKnight. Terri was a 1982 honor graduate of Jonesboro High School. She attended Arkansas State University and graduated with a Master of Science in Education, Instructional Specialist in May 2011, Bachelor of Science in Dec. 1998 and Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems in May 1986. She was currently a math teacher at Westside High School. She also taught Geometry and Algebra II. Terri had an overall of 25 years teaching experience. Terri was a member of Jonesboro Christian Church and was also the pianist and the director of the choir and handbells. Her hobbies included cross-stitching, attending her children's events, doing jigsaw puzzles and sudoku, but most of all she loved being a Mimi to Jonah.

Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." For anyone who knew Terri knows this scripture fit her perfectly. She never wanted to see anyone fight or upset and would do anything to make sure everyone was happy. Terri had a huge smile and an infectious laugh. She never met a stranger and she always had a big smile, even while fighting ovarian cancer for 3 years, her smile could light up a room. Terri cared so deeply for the people around her and made a great impact on so many lives. She was a strong fighter and an inspiration to others and maintained her strong Christian faith through the good and bad times.

Terri was known as the snow dancing lady. She loved snow and told everyone tricks to help make it snow. There was a special dance that involved the stankey leg, the sprinkler and the mixer. The solution for snow days was to snow dance in her pajamas, inside out and ice cubes down the toilet. This would make it snow.

Preceded in death by her grandparents, Benjamin and Una Mae McKnight, Ralph and Mary Lee Jarrett; father, Benjamin Paul McKnight; mother-in-law, Mary Jane VanSlyke and father-in-law, Clay Tyner

Survivors include her mother, Loretta McKnight; husband of 35 years, Peyton Tyner; her girls, Elizabeth Grace (Gracie) and husband, Joshua Cook, Audrey Brooke and husband, Blake Guinn, Chloe Peyton Tyner and fiance Dylan Wallis; grandson, Jonah Wayne Cook and one on the way; sister, Paula and husband, Bary Riggs; in laws, Caroline and Tony Brodell and Gaylon Tyner; nieces and nephews, Zachary and wife, Alison Riggs, Madison Riggs, Anthony and wife, Kaitlyn Brodell, Rachael and husband, Matt Morrison, Bethany Tyner and Amirah Parks and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Jonesboro Christian Church, 1700 Loberg Lane at 10:00 am, with E.J. Cunningham, Vance McIntosh and Blake Guinn officiating. The burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cory Meadors, Tyler Meadors, Trevor Meadors, Zachary Riggs, Gary Henry, Anthony Brodell, Matt Morrison and Mike Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be the members, past and present girls and boys bowling teams of Westside High School and the staff of Westside.

Visitation will be Friday, April 21, 2023, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Ave. Jonesboro, AR.

Terri was a sweetheart. We haven’t seen each other in years but, we stayed in touch via Facebook. Her infectious smile and laugh will be missed by all who knew her. My thoughts and prayers are with Loretta, Paula and all her family. Ovarian cancer is a horrible
disease and has taken another precious soul. In the end, Terri won the battle with her pure, caring and loving heart.♥️🙏🏼♥️

Peyton, Gracie, Audrey, and Chloe:
I loved Terri dearly and I miss her so much. She taught me many things about being a teacher, but especially being a loving teacher. She was always welcoming to every student in her classroom, and brought humor into every situation. I will miss our lunches and our talks together.
May wonderful memories of her get you through these difficult days to come. With all my love, Chels

I am so heartbroken to hear the news of Teri’s passing. I have known Teri over the years, through her mom Loretta who was a former co-worker, then as a sweet parent when Chloe attended Hillcrest and as a dear neighbor and friend! She was the most precious person and had the best laugh! She was always so cheerful and caring and I will miss running into her periodically and catching up on our families. I know she will be dearly missed by so many students, friends and of course her sweet her family. I am sending my heart and prayers to the whole family, as I know your grief is two-fold having just lost Paul recently, as well. I am so sorry I will not be able to share my condolences in person this Saturday, as we will be out of town. Please, know you all will be in our thoughts and prayers!

So sorry for your loss. Mrs. Terri was a wonderful woman who shared a kind word with everyone she met. As the bowling coach at Southside, I can say she was a friend and someone who I will miss greatly. I recently lost my dad to cancer in March, and I truly understand what you are going through. I would just like to say to hold onto the memories you have of her and remember the way Mrs. Terri made you felt when you were around her. Condolences to all of you from myself and the Southerner bowling teams.

I met Terri and Paula when they would visit their grandmother, Mrs Una Mae. I was so excited when I could go to Mrs. Una Maes house because there weren’t any girls on my street. I’ve had the pleasure of continuing that friendship through the years. Terri was a light and blessed all those she was around. Praying for all of her family during this time. Love to all.

My heart aches for Terri’s family. What a wonderful person Terri was. So, I cannot imagine the sorrow Peyton, the girls, Jonah and Terri’s mom must be feeling.
I do remember her kindness, her love for music, hats and that infectious laugh. For her children and her grandson. My goodness, her face would light up talking about them! And, what a legacy she’s left behind.
She will be greatly missed by so many.

Mrs tyner! Wow I can't believe your in heaven. So many memories I have of you being myath teacher. And the many days you had to help calm my excitement of learning something new in class to give other a chance to solve. Most of all Ill never forget your passion to make everyone's future brighter with either a little snow dance or π in the face joke. Your humor and jokes could be know around the community. Your love for Jesus definitely shown and you were always there to talk if I ever needed. You will be greatly missed by so many. Cheers to no more pain and no more sorrow but rejoice that you've made it to your external home.
