Russell M. FeatherstonI am a Veteran.

of Paris, AR

July 4, 1932 - February 22, 2024

There are no more crops to tend, no cows to feed. The harvest is over for Russell M. Featherston, 91 of Paris Arkansas. He was born July 4, 1932 to Garland and Rulie Featherston, passing away February 22, 2024. He is survived by his wife and helpmate of nearly 65 years, Yvonne Featherston; two daughters, Margaret Cotton of Maumelle and Martha Nehus and husband Nathaniel of Benton; one son, Billy James Featherston and wife Debbie of Paris and one sister, Sally Featherston Hallum of McKinney, Texas. He was Papa Russell to Mariah Nehus, Elijah Nehus and wife Asmita, Megan Featherston, Brad Featherston, and Mary Cotton. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Bill Featherston, sister Joyce Featherston Merrick, and son in law Stan Cotton.

With exception of his college years and military service, he lived his entire life on his family farm in rural Logan County, milking dairy cows, raising beef cattle and row crop farming. He found time to enjoy attending any activities where he could watch his children and then grandchildren. He was an active member of his community who found many ways to give back, especially through his leadership roles in organizations including Logan County Farm Bureau, Logan County Fair Board, ASCS, Gray Rock Water Users Association Board and Logan County Cattlemen's Association. He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

A visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m., on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Bill VanMeter and Rev. Joe Bagwell. Burial will follow in McKendree Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tom Hixson, Jim Hixson, Harold ''PeeWee'' Schluterman, Joe Don Koenigseder, Junior Crane and Bobby Floren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Thompson, Reggie Grist, Wayne Grist, Robert Poole, Raymond Smith, Johnny Spellins and Bob Porter.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Logan County Fair Association or any charity of your choice.

I'm so sorry to hear about Russell, he was such a sweet man, and boy did he like to talk. I have alot of memories of going to his and Yvonne's house and seeing them at all the family reunions and Russell coming over to our house in Subiaco and sitting on the front porch chatting away to my daddy. Put them two together and they never ran out of something to talk about. I know he will be missed by many. My thoughts, love and prayers are with Yvonne, Margaret, Martha, Billy and all of the family. May the Lord send you all peace.

Russell will be missed dearly. We enjoyed visiting with him when he would make his daily rounds to check on his cows. We loved to listen to his stories about milking cows when he was just a boy, or telling us about how he met his lovely wife that he loved very much. He was a great man and will be missed. Praying for all the family in this difficult time.

My sympathy to Billy, Debbie and Mr. Featherston's entire family. In his time, Mr. Featherston was truly an integral citizen of Paris and Logan County. I remember sitting on a jury with him once. When I think of him, I think Logan County Fair. His work is done. Now he can enjoy eternal rest.

Sorry to hear about Russell.

Always had something to say every time I saw him.

We were a little bit kin in some way. Russell knew the story. Told me numerous times that he had known 6 generations in my family.

Saw him and Mrs Featherston not long ago at the Co op in Subiaco. We had our usual visit.

Thoughts and prayers for the family.

Going to miss seeing him.

God bless.
