Ethel Mae, what a beautiful picture you chose of your Mother to be with her obituary. I read an article about your Mother coming to live with you. It was good for me to know about her since I've not seen her in many years. She was blessed with a more than normal long life. You were blessed to have been with her all these years and your grands and greats saw her. I know you will miss her, but if her health had declined and you were her caregiver which I know you probably were, then now life will be easier for you. I was a member of the church in Osceola as a teen and I sang in the choir with many of the adults and she played the piano or organ. I can not remember, but she certainly was gifted and we were blessed to enjoy her playing the instrument that most people love to listen, the piano. My prayer for you is that when you think upon your Mother that you praise God for her and all that she taught you all through those years. Most sincerely, Christine Heard Shoemake

We got to know and admire Ruth from the many times that Ethel May would bring her to Jonesboro when she was pianist at Cornerstone United Methodist Church here. We really enjoyed Ruth's unfailing friendliness, spirit, and spunk. Our condolences, Ethel May --your mother was a really remarkable lady.

So very sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of Ruth coming in the store. We always had fun and would talk about her leaving Arkansas after she married Mr Evans. She loved golf, her family and friends. She had a long and full life. We should all be so lucky. Ethel Mae I know you are proud of your mom and will miss her terribly.

I remember Christmas in 2021. My wife and I took our son Wesley (we only had him at the time) to visit his Great Great Grandma. He was a little over a year old and was so excited to visit with family. Ruth was an amazing woman and I think she was just as excited to meet Wesley as he was to meet her. We got an amazing shot of 5 generations that day. A picture that still amazes me.
