Lois A. Chadwick

of Marshall, AR

April 4, 1925 - April 24, 2012

Family and friends will gather on April 27, 2012 to celebrate the life of Lois Chadwick.

Lois was born at Long Creek in Searcy County, Arkansas on April 04, 1925 to Arlie P. Shannon and Ruth (Sutterfield) Shannon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, JC Chadwick; and two sisters, Betty Roach and Louise Milligan.

She is survived by one son, Stan Chadwick and wife Joy of Marshall; two grandsons, Tyler Chadwick and wife Latisha and Grant Chadwick; one brother, Arlie Shannon of Kahoka, MO; one sister, Leo Cypert of North Little Rock; and two sisters-in-law, Willie Morrison of Marshall and Lou Chadwick of Denver, CO.

Lois passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, April 24th at the age of 87. She lived a long, happy life and celebrated each day with love and laughter. The following tribute was written by her two grandsons and sums up exactly the "Lois" that we all knew and loved.

Lois Chadwick's legacy cannot be defined by one word or through a single memory. Many will remember her spirit, each with their own fondness. Some knew her as a teacher, for she spent many years of her life teaching children how to read and write. Her knowledge was not limited to books or confined within school walls. She knew about life and lived each day with contagious optimism. As a child of the Great Depression, she knew the importance of hard work and the value of a dollar. While never rich by monetary standards, the relationships she formed with those around her were truly priceless. She was a best friend, a mother, a caregiver, a role model and a comedian. She taught those around her the importance of living, the worth of laughter and the meaning of love. She sought happiness from the small things in life. She would rather walk through a garden than drive a nice car. The smile of a child was worth more to her than anything money could buy. The sound of laughter was more soothing to her than any song. She spent her entire life living for others, none more important than her Savior. Her relationship with her Heavenly Father was the backbone for each of her relationships here on earth. She sought his guidance in every aspect of her life and was a living testimony of a love strong enough to heal any wound, mend any heart and touch every life.

People come and go but they will always be close to your heart no matter where they are.
Heaven got one more angel to watch over us.
Lois Chadwick will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Services for Lois will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 27, 2012 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Mike Roach and Bro. James L. Horton officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Roller-Coffman Chapel. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery in Marshall.

Pallbearers will be Tommy George, Kurtis Cypert, Keith Cypert, Cliff Roach, Randy Shannon and Stan Chadwick.

Stan, Joy, Grant, Tyler, Latisha, and family. I was so sorry to hear of Lois’s passing. I worked with her when I taught at Marshall. We have kept in touch through the years and her calls and visits always cheered me up. In II Timothy chapter 4, the last part of verse 6, the Apostle Paul talked about his departure. Departures are sad times. But, with every departure there is always an arrival. With time and prayer, your thoughts will turn more to Lois's arrival. We can only imagine the joy that took place when she arrived in Heaven. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless you. Betty Fulks

So sad... Lois was a bright light during my Marshall Teaching Days..... Never a dull moment when she was around. Sometimes the noise level from laughter in the teacher's lounge forced Spence Holder from the room! Hugs to all the family... Nancy Miller
