Freeda Kimmer Reid, 86, of Batesville died Friday, February 5, 2010.
She was born in Cushman, the daughter of Sam Kimmer and Jasmine Masters Kimmer.
Freeda graduated from Cushman school where she excelled at basketball. Upon graduation she completed her education at Draughn School of Business in Little Rock. She was an employee of KBTA for many years and instrumental in helping open several radio station in this region. Freeda moved to the Chicago, Illinois area in the 1960's where she held several positions with Fansteel Metalurgical Corporation until her retirement. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, and past Rainbow Girls Mother Advisor in Waukegan, Illinois. Upon retirement she returned to Batesville where she resided until her death. She enjoyed reading, playing canasta and spending time with family and friends. Freeda was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Batesville.
She is survived by four sisters, Mary Jones and husband, Arch of Batesville, Jane Jameson Sellers and husband, Tom of Batesville, Edith Brown and husband, Dale of Cadiz, Kentucky, Sammie Daniel and husband Bob of Tacoma, Washington; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leland Reid and two brothers, Dale Kimmer and Jack Kimmer.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Roller-Crouch Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Bobby Shepherd officiating.
Pallbearers are Sammy Jones, Danny Jones, Mike Brown, Bill Kimmer, Nick Daniel and Bill Pearce.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2010.
Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Cushman by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
I was sorry to hear of Mrs. Freeda's passing. She was a wonderful lady. I went to Eastern Star with her at Newark several years ago and saw her at Woodlawn every week. I'll miss seeing her.

I will greatly miss Ms. Freeda. She had a way of making you smile. She will always have a special place in my heart.
We are all so proud and honored to have known and cared for Ms. Freeda in her last years of life. She was an extraordinary woman, and could make us all laugh and smile with her stories and conversations. We will miss her dearly, but will never forget her.
