James Edward Wilkerson, 79, of Marion, Arkansas passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025 in Memphis, Tennessee surrounded by his loving family.
James was born on December 30, 1945 in Fulton, Missouri to John H. and Myrtle Wilkerson. He grew up with strong values of hard work, kindness and devotion to family-qualities that defined his life.
A skilled and hardworking businessman, James was the proud owner of his own auto repair business in Memphis, Tennessee. As a self-employed mechanic, he built a reputation for honesty, expertise and dedication to helping others. His customers and community respected him not only for his skill but also for his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Outside of work, James had a passion for Enduro motorcycle racing, a sport that brought him excitement and camaraderie with fellow riders. Whether competing or simply enjoying the thrill of the ride, he embraced every challenge with determination and enthusiasm.
James was also a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church in West Memphis, Arkansas for over 40 years. His faith was a cornerstone of his life and he served in many roles, including groundskeeper, Sunday School teacher and church treasurer. His dedication to his church family was unwavering and his kindness and service touched the lives of many.
James is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Wanda Wilkerson; sons, Josh Wilkerson (Christy) of Olive Branch, Mississippi and Gordon Pitts (Pat) of Wright City, Missouri; daughters, Keri Wilkerson of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Rebecca Klippel of Foley, Missouri and Angela Nations of Hannibal, Missouri. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Pat; his brother, Larry Wilkerson; his sister, Linda Wilkerson and his grandchild, Jordon Webb.
