June 12, 1962 - March 25, 2025

Marilou N. McMahan, 62, of North Little Rock, Arkansas transitioned to her eternal home on March 25, 2025. She was born in Houston, Texas on June 12, 1962 to Louis C. Nuckolls and Mary McKinney Nuckolls.

Marilou graduated from Searcy High School in 1980 and from the University of Central Arkansas in 1984 with a degree in Elementary Education. She received her master's degree from UCA in 1987. Marilou taught for thirty-five years in the Little Rock School District. Much of her time was spent as a kindergarten teacher until she retired three years ago.

Marilou was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Little Rock. She spent many years traveling to Tara's dance and cheer competitions and Drew's baseball games. She enjoyed watching all Razorback sports.

Marilou's other hobbies included embroidery and shopping with her sister, daughter and granddaughter; but her special place to relax was at the beach where she could enjoy a cold drink, music and a good book.

Marilou was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Jon McMahan.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Bob McMahan; daughter, Tara Prater (Logan) of Prairie Grove; granddaughter, Audrey Ann Prater; son, Andrew McMahan of North Little Rock; sister, Melissa Miller (Dino) of Dumas; nephews, Matthew Miller (Shelby) of Monticello and Ryan Miller of Jonesboro; her father and mother-in-law, Robert C. and Judith McMahan of Sherwood; brother-in-law, Tim McMahan of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Lana McMahan of Lake Charles, Louisiana; nephew, Adam McMahan (Kristin) of Lake Charles; niece, Ashley McMahan of Lake Charles; five great nieces and nephews and many other beloved family and friends.

A Rosary will be held at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock on Sunday, March 30th at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Little Rock on Monday, March 31st at 1:00 p.m.

Be reminded that she wants you to move forward with your lives in a positive way and follow her great example. Be there for your dad! Marilou was totally devoted to her family. I always enjoyed visiting with her at Drew's baseball games when he played for Catholic High. She was a wonderful Mom and devoted wife. Mrs. McMahan. I am surprised and blown away by this news, this is one of those people you never imagined a world without. I remember always feeling comfortable and secure around her and Bob. It was an honor to play on a baseball team where she was on our side. She was warm and comfortable, but at the same time could keep everyone in check. Thank you God for allowing us to experience Marilou in this time on earth. Until we meet again..

I will pray that the great times you shared as family will sustain you during this time. I fondly remember the spirit and enthusiasm that Marilou always displayed as one who worked to create the MSM spirit booster club. She was so proud of Tara and the Mount girls and knew they deserved as much support as the members of the sports teams. She's cheering and dancing in God's presence now . Mrs. Chalmers

Bob, Tara, and Drew,

My heart aches for you, and I hope you can feel the love and prayers coming from North Carolina—we are grieving with you. Marilou was a truly remarkable woman, generous with her time and kindness. In recent years, when I traveled to Arkansas to teach for Bob, she never hesitated to pick me up, always greeting me with her warmth and infectious joy. She had a way of making everyone feel at home, and every moment with her was full of laughter and light.

Sending our deepest sympathy, love, and prayers.

I had the privilege to teach for several years with Marilou at Rockefeller Elementary. Her yes twinkled when she smiled and her laugh was infectious. Marilou was quick witted and very funny. Once you were her friends it was for the long haul. We had a lunch a couple of summers ago and it was like we were sitting in the lounge at lunch. Rest easy sweet lady, we will take it from here.
