of Bee Branch, AR

July 19, 1937 - March 20, 2025

Windell Gene Hutchins, 87, of Bee Branch, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully on March 20, 2025 at home with his family. He was a member of South Side Baptist Church and is strolling in heaven with his lifelong love, Helen Marie Hutchins.

Windell was born July 19, 1937 at the Hutchins's homeplace in Bee Branch, Arkansas to the late James Hulen and Hazel Lois Hutchins. His first six years were spent on the family farm, with some of his fondest memories being spent in the fields with his grandpa, John Hutchins. Windell graduated from Caraway High School in Northeast Arkansas where he and his family worked as sharecroppers. His favorite memories of his childhood were plowing the fields with his team of mules, being with all of his Hutchins and Mix family and playing with his siblings and cousins.

Windell married the love of his life, Helen Marie on July 29, 1960. He often said she was the best thing God gave him and their marriage of 58 years was grounded in faith and love. He supported his family for 40 years as a master wood finisher at Singer in Trumann and Baldwin Piano Co. in Conway. Mr. Hutchins, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, was happiest when he was with his family. He always had a joke to tell, a hug to give and a helping hand to share with whomever needed him. He was ''Papa Windell'' to many and he and ''Memaw Helen'' opened their home and heart to anyone who wanted or needed to be a part of their family. His loyalty and work ethic blessed the lives of his family and his precious spirit was a testament to the love of God even in his final days.

Mr. Hutchins was preceded in death by his lovely wife; his parents; brothers, Tony and Bobby Hutchins and sister, Willa Dean Solida. He leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Jeff (Libby) Hutchins of Damascus and Todd (Tracy) Hutchins of Bee Branch; daughters, Cindy (Glen Stambaugh) Hutchins of Bee Branch and Jamie (Michael) Stacks of Damascus; grandchildren, Brandy Loyd, Zach Hutchins, Jeffery Todd Hutchins, Glen Stambaugh, Jr., Savannah Stacks, Stormy Gates and Parker Hutchins; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill and Farrell (Vada) Hutchins and sister, Merita Campbell and a host of other family and friends who love him dearly.

The family would like to say a special thank you to those who provided loving care for him during the past 8 months: Dr. Michael Hilman, AR Heart Hospital, CARTI in Conway, Ozark Home Health Care and Arkansas Hospice - Elisha, Romona and sweet Cathy.

Dear Family.. Your folks were good folks. They cared about people and that is what made them wonderful. We appreciate all of you kids and what difference you have made in our family. Windell was the real deal on what being a Christian looked like. He was true to his faith and it showed and it shined to folks who were fortunate to have known him. We pray for you all and know God will comfort and wrap his peace around you.. Yall are all good folks and I am confident Windell and Helen would be proud of each and everyone of you

I worked for Windell for most of my 13 years at Baldwin Piano, I started out as a material handler for 30 days then Windell asked me if I wanted to try a new job which lasted over 10 years, and I was grateful for what I was able to learn during that time and when Baldwins started to shut down in 1999 I went to work at Falcon Jet where I have been for almost 26 years and I have continued to use the tools that Windell taught me. Windell also worked with several of my family members. Windell was a good man and I promised him that I would say good things about him at his funeral as I was leaving after my last day at Baldwins, I will never forget him and the values that he stood for

To all of you “kids” which is how I still think of you, I send my heartfelt condolences. A great man has left this earth, but I have no doubt he is ddancing in joy with Helen in heaven. They were the epitome of true love on this earth. I know you will miss them, but keep in mind you will meet again one glorious day. Love and hugs to you all.

Wendell was gracious enough to give me a history lesson of the Hutchins Family, when I was at the reunion in 2019. I loved the memorial wall and memorial walk. My thoughts and prayers are with his immediate family.
