Betty Bernea LoftinI am a Veteran.

of Witts Springs, AR

March 3, 1930 - March 3, 2025

Betty Bernea Loftin was born on March 3, 1930 to Myrtle Elizabeth (Sullins) and William Herbert Milam in Witts Springs Arkansas. She celebrated her birthday one last time on earth at midnight surrounded by her children on March 3, 2025 and then entered heaven to celebrate her first heavenly birthday with her daughter, Brenda; husband, Edgar and many other friends and loved ones.

Betty attended school at Witts Springs where she met the love of her life, Edgar Allen Loftin. They were married on June 1, 1947 and they celebrated 47 years of marriage before he passed away in 1994. Betty was a member of Witts Springs Community Bible Church where she faithfully served and attended until her health began to decline. She lived out her faith in front of her family by serving in VBS, Sunday School and providing meals for others. She began each day by drinking coffee while reading her bible and praying over her family and loved ones. She worked in HeadStart for over 20 years where she loved and cared for many students in Bruno and Witt Springs. She loved to cook for her family and anyone who came to visit, making everyone feel at home and like family. She loved growing fruits, vegetables and flowers which she generously shared with others. Her feisty and defensive nature earned her the beloved nickname of ''Betty Bull'' from her many brothers. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Arlene Loftin; her husband, Dr. Edgar Allen Loftin; her parents, Myrtle and Herb Milam; her in-laws, Wayne and Grace Loftin; her brothers, Gerald, Weneford, Dolphus and Carson Milam; her grandchildren, Dale Kurtz, Charlene Loftin; her daughters in law, PJ Young Loftin, Janey Loftin and great great grandchild, Kamari Coleman; brothers in law, Jim Campbell, Wayne Hart, Frank Bryant, Daniel Loftin and sisters in law, Betty Milam, Ruth Milam, Bernice Milam, Faith Campbell, Ineta Nolting.

She is survived by her sons, Jerry Loftin of Eudora, Kansas, Derek Loftin of Little Rock, Arkansas, Dennis Loftin of Kansas, Kim (Juaretta) Loftin of Witts Springs; daughters, Renee(Ted) Wiley of Dover, Arkansas and Dorothy,(Earnest) Taylor of Marshall, Arkansas; daughter in law, Pam Childers, her sisters, Jean (John) Owen, Wanda Bryant; one brother, Dempsey Milam; sisters in law, Faye Dentleman, Pat Hart, Carol Bane and Delilah Milam;13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and one on the way and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Betty will be 10:00 AM Friday, March 7th, 2025 at the Witts Springs Community Center in Witts Springs, Arkansas with Bro. Jim Arnold officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Thursday, March 6th, 2025 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas. Burial will be in Witts Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Betty was a true Proverbs 31 lady through and through. I was one of the kids that came through Headstart in the early 70's. We had connections through her family, Her brother Dolphus was best man in my parent's wedding. Then at Witts Springs her son married my mom's cousin and I became close friends with Dorothy. I spent many afternoons and nights at their home. Mrs. Betty was so gracious and a wonderful cook. She touched so many lives through the years. I am so thankful to have these memories. Kim, Juaretta, Delilah and Wreneta, Dorothy and Earnest, Renee and all the family, know that we are praying for you and will be in the days ahead. God bless you all!

I knew your mom because her brother Carson married my cousin Deliah Aday. When I worked in home health her mother and her husband were my patients. I always enjoyed visiting with your mother and would frequently see Betty and Bernience in town shopping, usually at Freds. But, the 1st Prayers for peace and comfort for the family. How blessed is the thought we will be with our loved ones in heaven because of the death, burial and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I cannot imagine the reunion that took place yesterday. I know Aunt Betty was elated to see Jesus. She faithfully read her Bible and liked to talk about Heaven. Darvin and I have so many memories. She could just tickle you to death with her stories and things she and mom would get into. Her life was one that touched everyone she came in contact with. Jerry, Derek, Dennis, Kim, Renee and Dorothy you are all in our prayers and all of her grandchildren. We loved her so much and I thank God that because of Christs resurrection, we too will be resurrected and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
