of Conway, AR

July 31, 1939 - February 25, 2025

In Loving Memory of Shirley Ann Spakes July 31, 1939 February 25, 2025.

Shirley Ann Spakes, born on July 31, 1939 in Texarkana, TX, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025 at the age of 85. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Shirley's warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.

Shirley was deeply involved in her community, serving as the president of the PTA at Liberty Eylau High School and a proud member of the Liberty Eylau Booster Club. Her commitment to education and community was matched by her dedication to her work, spending many years at Wholesale Electric in Texarkana.

In 1978, Shirley and her family moved to Pine Bluff, where she began working at a local printing company for the cherished Pearce family. She found another home at First Baptist Church, where her beautiful voice graced the choir, uplifting spirits and filling the sanctuary with music.

Shirley had a passion for life's simple pleasures-cooking, baking, tackling crossword puzzles and singing. Her family will always remember her fondness for watching "Wheel of Fortune", affectionately known in the family as ''The Wheel''.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Larry D. Spakes and her children, Camille (Chuck) Turchi, Sheryl (TJ) Goodman and Paula (Larry) Robinson. Shirley's love and legacy continue through her grandchildren, Alex Turchi, Trent (Joy) Turchi, Brian (Fernanda) Nowotny and Crystal Culp. She is also survived by her dear nieces and nephews, Debbie (Don) Holder, Donna Hicks, Rex Hines, Rory Hines, Roger (Karen) Hines, Scott (Glenda) Hines and Kevin (Jill) Hines.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Hazel Hines; as well as her siblings, Betty Bius, Bill (Sonny) Hines, Jeanette Hicks and Roger Hines.

Shirley's life was a testament to love, faith and family. Her radiant smile, generous heart and gentle spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

A visitation will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 starting at 2:00pm with a funeral service starting at 3:00pm at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home.
