I regret that I never told Mr. Risner how important he was to furthering my education. He was one of the main reasons I went on to college, and was able to be successful in higher education. He was easily one of the best people, and best teachers, I ever had the privilege of knowing. I still benefit today from his math teaching and just hope that everybody that reads this guestbook can truly appreciate the impact that a truly good person and an exemplary teacher, can have on the lives of young people. He was so exceptionable. To his family, my deepest condolences, and my thanks for sharing him with the rest of us.

Benny had a life-long impact on my life as a Teacher, Role Model, Mentor, Advisor, Father Figure, and Friend.

He was the best teacher I ever had from the many schools I attended throughout my life. His passion for the subject and love and caring for his students was apparent and magnified his effectiveness, impact, and endearment. He not only inspired in me a love of math and continuous learning, but was the principal reason I chose to be an engineer.

His impact however went well beyond my school years. Many times through my life I sought his advice on personal matters dealing with life’s curveballs. He was always generous with his time and provided loving, wise counsel for which I am ever grateful.

I love and miss Benny, but find solace knowing we will be together again.
My prayers of comfort for the family and ALL of us that were so positively enriched by him.

Mr. Risner was the most influential teacher I had. I am not sure I would have graduated college without the math foundation Mr. Risner gave me. Mountain View was blessed with many great teachers and Mr. Risner was at the top. He also had a fun personality. I remember me and a few other students were asking him how we were doing in his class. He told me that I was still in the boat but the boat was sinking.

I think my first math class with “Sir” Benny Risner was 1968. He was an extraordinary teacher and person. I’m sure he had a lot to do with me loving math. I just wish I hadn’t forgotten most of it! He is a legend in the history of Mountain View School, for sure. The impact he made on the lives of hundreds of students is immeasurable. I was fortunate to continue knowing him and his lovely wife, Cloyce, through church until her passing and his health began to fail and we moved. We’ll miss you, Sir.

Mr. Risner was THE best math teacher! (At least in my eyes). Although I wasn't the best in math in my family (Thomas is), I took Algebra1, Algebra 2, and Geometry under him. He had a way of teaching that was 2nd to none. I was always in awe of his ability to stand in front of the class and make up problems for us to practice. Sometimes they were unsolvable but he would quickly catch it and correct. He would give credit for trying to work problem, credit for partial correct answer, and work with you until you "got it." And when it "clicked" and you understood and were able to work any problem, he encouraged you to be proud of yourself and he was always our biggest cheerleader. I used his teaching to help fellow students in my first nursing classes. When asked "who was your favorite teacher", I always said Benny Risner (without a doubt).
I loved him and Mrs. Risner together. They were always the nicest people and couple to me. Rest in love Benny. You did what God put you here to do. (and did it well).
Condolences to his family.

My heart hurts for the family, but rejoices for Benny (and Cloyce!). He was a kind man. A patient man. A Christian man with whom my family and I had the privilege of going to church with during my growing-up years. Although his absence from this life will be greatly felt, we take comfort in knowing exactly where he is... with His Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. As a great preacher of days gone by once said, “Some day you will read in the papers that D. L. Moody is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it! At that moment I shall be more alive than I am now." Benny Risner's soul lives on in heaven, but his influence lives on through his sweet children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. You all have a heart full of memories that will help you through the days to come. Remember this; Nothing lasts longer than a happy memory. God bless you all!

Benny Risner was above all a TEACHER. He spent the majority of his life at Mountain View School either as a student or as a teacher. I was blessed to have him first as a teacher then as a fellow co-worker in Mountain View School. As you all know, he was the best math teacher that walked through those doors and greeted students. Benny earned the love and respect of his many students for his time and patience to see that we all learned. He also gained our respect as a man through his true Christianity, living his life accordingly and raising his children to do likewise. His tender heart came through his caring about all his students and his world. He "never wanted to be a bother" and chose to spare his children the emotional burden of a funeral. That is so Benny.

I was lucky to have been a class sponsor with both Benny and Von Dean Jeffery. We were a team for over 20 years. We laughed; we cried; we grumbled a bunch; we also travelled many miles together. In essence, together we cared about the students, about Mountain View School, and about this community we call "home". Benny Risner's influence was immeasurable, just like his many students' love and respect for him.

In lieu of flowers and in honor and memory of Benny Risner, Jim and I have opted to donate to the Stone County Historical Society to help in the renovations (replacing floor joists and painting) that are now underway at the Stone County Museum which is located on the campus where Benny spent the majority of his teaching career. If any of you would like to donate as well in memory of Benny Risner, you can do so at Stone County Historical Society, P.O. Box 210, Mountain View, AR 72560 His family would be notified of your donation.

Thank you "Sir" for being my friend. RIP Benny Risner. I know Cloyce is rejoicing.

There aren’t enough words to tell how great a teacher and educator he was. I was lucky enough to have him as an Algebra teacher and my son had him when he was in high school.
