Allene Monroe Bussard

of Little Rock, AR

November 2, 1933 - February 3, 2025

Allene (Boddy) Bussard, age 91, of Little Rock, AR, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3rd, 2025. Born November 2, 1933, in Troy, Kansas.

Allene was an extraordinary employee, daughter and mother whose perseverance, dedication, unwavering faith, selflessness and love knew no bounds. She always prioritized her family regardless of what else she had going on.

Allene's love for every member of her family was so very strong & unconditional. She leaves behind that unwavering love she had for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Allene was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alva & Bessie Monroe, and her brother Gene Monroe. Allene's love and devotion lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of her life.

Allene is survived by her loving daughter, Terri Emerson of Mabelvale, AR. She also leaves behind a cherished legacy in her grandchildren Michael Jones (Ellen), Brandi Warren, great-grandchildren Maranda Chapman (Jacob), Justin Youngblood, Katelyn Scott (Michael), Bradlee Jones & Jessica Jones, and great-great-grandchildren Alex Meachum & Stella Scott.

Throughout her life, Allene has selflessly given of herself to others. As we mourn her passing, we should also celebrate the amazing woman she was and the profound affect she had on those of us whose life she touched. May she rest in peace.

Allene Monroe 1933

Mother 1955

Nana 1974

Born November 2, 1933, the second child born to Alva & Bessie Monroe, their first child being her brother, Eugene (Gene). Allene was born with blonde hair & brown eyes, until age of 3 when her hair turned auburn, who grew up to be an amazing woman.
She lived on a farm for several years, had a dog and her very own horse. When she was a freshman, she was voted most beautiful. She was a cheerleader and graduated from Harmony Grove School. She married at 21 and had her first and only child at 22.

She worked at Pulaski County Court House in the County Clerk's office where she stayed for many years. She started out in the accounting department until Mr. Peters made her his secretary, giving her full Administrative Duties. She became Mr. Bob Peters ''right-hand'' and was so valued & trusted that she would cover for him whenever he had to be out of the office.

When Mr. Peters died in December, 1970, then Lt. Governor Maurice L. (Footsie) Britt, in absence of Governor Rockefeller, appointed Allene County Clerk. This appointment made her the first female in Pulaski County history to be County Clerk.
Years later, after a move to Ocala, Florida then back to Little Rock, AR, in 1983 or 1984, she went to work for C.A.R.T.I. (Central Arkansas Radiation Therapy Institute) as an Administrative Assistant. Her duties included many departments such as Medical Physics & Engineering Department. She was also responsible for coordinating work order requests for Facilities Maintenance and managed the contracted Housekeeping service.

She partially retired at one point working only 3 days a week and she officially retired in 2005. She was already involved with Beta Sigma Phi sorority and ended her time with them after 50 years. After she retired, while still being involved in her sorority, she also became a volunteer with the Salvation Army and The Veterans Administration and became more involved with her church, Parkway Place Baptist Church. She kept her great-grandkids a bit more and even took them to Vacation Bible school a few years in a row. One of her greatest joys was taking them shopping for their list of school supplies. She sure loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would do just about anything for them. At one point in her life, she was mugged at the doorstep of her home. Somebody sure wanted that bright red purse she carried! When they grabbed her purse straps, which was over her shoulder, the force of it knocked her down on to her concrete steps breaking her shoulder. However, I would say her greatest achievement was being a breast cancer survivor!

Allene enjoyed fishing, and although she rarely went, she did enjoy going to a casino, playing cards with friends, and helping those she knew who were less fortunate & struggling, and taking meals to friends who were ill and to her elderly friends. She was definitely a giver!
All in all, she was a loving daughter, mother & Nana to her family. And lastly, she was a huge Razorback fan!

Terri~~~I will miss Allene (AB) as I called her a lot.....we spent many an afternoon at her house, drinking coffee and solving all problems of the world. We became friends @ CARTI when we both worked there, but once she retired, we became better friends....so, guessing 30 years of friendship....to say I will miss her is an understatement......she was a friend and confidant....these past few months were difficult for all of us and I know her prayer was to be right where she is now...most likely, bossing all her old friends around...lol RIP my dear friend. Save me a place....Cherie
