of North Little Rock, AR
February 27, 1940 - January 14, 2025
Linda McCree of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on January 14, 2025 at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love and impeccable fashion. Born with a sparkle in her eye and a daredevil spirit (she crashed her dad's airplane as a kid-yes, really), Linda grew up on a farm, with her three brothers and her sister, Pat, but her true passion was life itself.
As a young girl, Linda forged a lifelong friendship with Barbara Tomason. The two spent their days having adventures on the farm and even held a wedding ceremony for their horses, Pat and Buddy. Linda carried that same flair into adulthood.
For 52 years, Linda poured her heart and soul into running Fashion Corner, her beloved dress shop. It wasn't just a business; it was her stage. She made sure to match her purse, jewelry and shoes with every outfit. She was always ''dressed to the nines'' and made no apologies for it. She hosted dazzling fashion shows featuring her employees, friends and grandchildren, showcasing not just clothes, but the confidence she inspired in everyone who crossed her path. She knew countless customers, many of whom she considered dear friends. When she wasn't working, she was spending time with friends, family or at church.
Linda was a woman of discipline-her family will forever remember her insistence on standing up straight - chin up and shoulders back and applying fresh lipstick, even for a walk to the mailbox. She believed in living life fully and with purpose. Her favorite motto? ''The early bird gets the worm.''
Linda cared deeply about her family and loved them in the ways she knew how. Sometimes, that meant telling them what to do or how to dress. However, her family knew just how much she loved them, especially when bad weather was forecasted. No matter if you were 5 minutes away or 6 hours, you could expect a weather update call from Linda.
A devout Christian, Linda found strength and community at Park Hill Baptist Church. Getting her family into the pews on occasion was no matter of small importance to her. Though they often protested, she was persistent. She loved to make people laugh, often without meaning to and her sharp wit and unfiltered honesty were as endearing as they were unforgettable.
Linda's greatest love was her family, particularly her grandchildren. Her purse was essentially a mobile shrine, stuffed to the brim with photos, school projects and probably a recording of Amberly's singing that she'd force you to hear for the third (or thirtieth) time. Spending time with Linda meant hearing about her family, whether you asked or not, but no one minded-her love for them was infectious.
In her final chapter, Linda found the love of her life, Tom, bringing her story full circle. Her love for Tom was palpable to anyone who was near the two and her family is grateful to him for being a loving partner to her, for the time they had.
She is survived by her sister, Pat Talley; her daughters, Christi Wohner (Robert) and Barbie Rauch (Paul); her grandchildren, Amberly Betz, Brittany Carter, Alyson Lavigne and Jordan Rauch; her great-grandchildren, Madyson Marvel, Mason Bakalekos, Tristin Betz, Nadya Phan, Aydan Phan, Evan Carter, Dalton Rhea and Morgan Rhea and her great-great-granddaughters, Amelia Marvel and Hazel Rauch. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie ''Lick'' and Elsie Allen and her brothers, Buddy, Bob and Billy Allen.
Linda loved deeply, lived boldly and left us all better-and better dressed-than she found us.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, 11:00 A.M. at Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock, with a visitation one hour prior.
She loved everyone she was a sweet person I will miss her
Linda was a special friend when we were growing up in Gurdon and I have many happy memories of fun times with her in our school days and she was in our wedding in 1959. We remained long distance friends for the latter years, were able to visit each other some over that time.
We are praying for her family during this time, knowing how much they will miss her fun and laughter and her love for all her family.
Wow can you imagine the laughter going on in heaven with Linda getting everyone ready for the big day!! We had some good laughter thru the years on many levels. Pageants, style shows and the sharing of our names, Linda Sue and Linda Lou!! A celebration of Life is befitting for such a great individual who touched the lives of so many people. I'm sure in the dictionary if you looked up the word lady, there would be a symbolic picture of Linda. To the family members how she loved you and she wore bragging with class. A woman in business was not an easy task for either of us but by her example of success pulled me thru some questionable situations. She made success look easy.RIP Ms. Linda.
To know Linda was to love her! Many fun years at Levy to share our faith and family growing up ! May God be with her family as they go through this loss in there lives
Sending all my love and prayers to my extended family. Thank you also, Tom, for being there for Linda along with her family.. you're an amazong man! I was so fortunate to have the best step-mother than anyone deserves! Linda's love and devotion for her family, friends and community was boundless!
RIP, Linda. You were a special angel on earth. Loved you dearly.
Thoughts and prayers for Linda’s family. Her passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of her family and friends. Linda was one of my mom’s (Bonnie Wood) most cherished friends, and I have great memories of lunches at Charlottes in Keo and at Fashion Corner. Linda always had a funny story which was usually about herself saying or hearing something wrong! After my mom passed in 2017, I continued to visit Linda when I would come home or give her a call from time to time, she always made me feel closer to my mom because Linda loved her too. Linda was a support for my dad after mom passed and that was so very appreciated , but that’s just who she was. She was always going to visit those in the hospital Nursing homes, and she had a special sweet young girl that would come and spent time with her, although this was more to support the young girl than Linda. She had a heart as big as they come and she shared her care and gave support freely. I can just imagine the reunion my mom and Linda had in heaven. I’m sure there were hugs and laughter, and my mom asking what took her so long to get there! Oh, what a celebration that took place on January 14th! Keep each other company ladies, I’ll see you soon. Love you , Miss Linda
