James Matthew Presley, Sr.I am a Veteran.

of Proctor, AR

February 28, 1944 - January 15, 2025

James (Jim) Matthew Presley, age 80, departed this life on January 15, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on February 28, 1944 in Trumann, AR to James Elbert and Evelyn Gates Presley.

Jim was a graduate of Trumann High School and the Arkansas Police Academy in Camden, AR. He attended East AR Community College and received his Associates Degree in Criminology. Jim was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5225 and a proud Vietnam Veteran that served his country with the United States Army. He was retired from the West Memphis Police Department.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bobby and Bud. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Debbye (Melton) Presley; son, Jimbo Presley of Horseshoe Lake and daughter, Vicki Moland of Marion; grandchildren, Matt (Anna Beth) Presley, Raven Presley, Landen Presley, Devon Mayfield, Nathan Castle and Jessi Duncan; Great grandchildren, Baylee Jo, Jocelyn and Avery; His brother, George Presley; sisters, Karen (Jimmy) Gregory, Marsha (Eddie) Mars, Linda Gregory all of Trumann, Geraldine (Bob) Barnes of Marked Tree and Shelia (Tim) Haggerty of Toledo, Ohio and many friends, nieces and nephews.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish and was good at both. Dementia took away many of his interests, but he never let it get him down. He always enjoyed time with his family and friends. Jim was a member of Angels Way Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, due to them not being allowed at military cemetery, donations to Angels Way Baptist Church, a decorative piece for Jim's beloved garden or Alzheimer's Foundation of America are welcome.

We would like to say THANK YOU to the Home Based Primary Care team at Memphis VA and his caretakers Leslie, Ms. Verdie and Dierkson. You all treated him with kindness and respect. For that we are very grateful.

This guy is really going to be missed by his family and all of his law enforcement friends. I met Jim in 1970 when I came to West Memphis to work for the ASP and he was working for WMPD. Never a dull moment when Jim checked 10-8 until he went home for the day. R.I.P JIM, we will see you again some day...

This brings such sadness to me , I met Jim way back in the day when he and Mike Carter were THE narcotic squad here in Crittenden County. They had long hair to cover and a beard to cover their face. I took care of Mikes kids and they would alway stop by Mikes house. Jim was a funny man, always nice and joking around. Years later he married Debbie and she took such good care of him til he took his last breath . He will be missed by so many people around here but Jim I'm so thankful you are no longer in pain my friend. Don't worry about your wonderful wife we will make sure she's good I promise. RIP my friend
