Robert "Butch" Chambliss Carlisle, Jr.

of Fairfield Bay, AR

August 24, 1956 - December 19, 2024

Robert Chambliss Carlisle, Jr., called Butch by all who knew him, was born on August 24, 1956 in Memphis, Tennessee to Robert Chambliss Carlisle, Sr. and Flora Annette (Davis) Carlisle. He was the oldest of his siblings; Thomas of Jackson, Tennessee, Vickie Bedford (Paul) of Horn Lake, Mississippi, Cathy Gunn of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, Lorrie Carlisle (deceased) and Tamela Simpson (Kenny) of Fairfield Bay.

Butch married his wife, Laura, in 1981and they had three children; Robert ''Matthew'' Carlisle (Tabatha), Melissa Pantalone (Joe) and Mitchell Carlisle. Laura preceded him in death in the spring of 2023. He and Laura had eight grandchildren.

Butch's father and eight uncles were carpenters and he started working with them as a young boy. He went on to a career as a general contractor and master carpenter in the home building business. Butch was still self-employed at the time of his death. He started his career in Memphis, moved to Beaufort, South Carolina in 1997, then to Fripp Island and Greenville, South Carolina.

After his wife passed, he moved to Fairfield Bay in 2023. Butch called this area his 'redneck paradise' and enjoyed every single day that he lived here. He was very dedicated to raising two grandsons for the past nine years. Butch loved the outdoors, hiking, being on the lake and exploring the surrounding area.

He had a strong work ethic and always had an ongoing building project for family, friends or himself. He was a positive, happy person with an outgoing personality. Butch was a tireless worker, physically strong and fit man at age 68. We were all shocked and surprised at his sudden death of a heart attack.

He will be missed by everyone who loved and cherished him. Butch never put himself first, he was always trying to make life better for others. We who were blessed to have shared in his life will always remember him with a smile. There will never be another Butch Carlisle. He was truly an original. Lucky, lucky for us having the time with him that we did. He enriched our lives.

Thank you, God, for this man, for his example of selflessness and humility. We will miss him until we meet again. Amen.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Shiloh Crossroads Cemetery in Greer's Ferry.

He was the best man I ever met. I’m thankful for the time that we had and the memories we made.
Life is different without you, sweetheart. Whisper a prayer to Jesus to heal our broken hearts.

I am so sad to hear about the passing of Butch. He was so steadfast in the care of his two grandson's and we all visited often at the Cool Pool in Fairfield Bay. Being a conversationalist, he was never for a shortage of words or stories. He will be missed.
