Alfred Wesley Mainer, Sr., 84, of Paris, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on May 31, 1940 in Logan County to his parents, Marie (Spicer) Spillers Mainer and Alfred Wallace Mainer.
He attended Paris High School and was a United States Army veteran. He was an over the road truck driver starting with Gordon Transport and ending with Consolidated Freightways. He was a teamster driver for over 30 years based in Memphis, Tennessee. After retiring he moved to Arkansas County and spent 27 years hunting and fishing on the White River and National Wildlife Refuge. He was an avid coon hunter and also enjoyed deer and squirrel hunting.
He was active in the Casscot Community Center, cooking for their Barbecues often. He was a member of Reveille Primitive Baptist Church, having joined in 1947 and he became a deacon in 2011.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Edward Mainer, Sr.; one sister, Mary Fuller; one half sister, Bertie Umholtz and two half brothers, Curtis Spillers and G.W. Spillers.
He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Janice (Wood) Mainer of Paris; two sons, Alfred Mainer, Jr. of Paris and Jimmy Wallace and wife, Jaimie of Almrya, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Andrew Mainer and wife, Arianne, Edward Mainer, Jr. and wife, Maria, Alfred Wesleyn Mainer III and Natalie Johnson; two great grandchildren, Trinity Mainer and Dominic Mainer and one great-great grandchild, Royce Bates.
A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a funeral beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris officiated by Bro. James Isaacs. Burial will follow in McVay Cemetery in Carbon City under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
Bro. Alfred was a wonderful man and husband. He was always a joy to be around. He will be missed.

This breaks my heart. I will miss him coming in to keep us gals in line. You are in my prayers Janice, for comfort and peace.

I am not able to attend the funeral services due to some health issues.
