of Bauxite, AR
July 25, 1954 - November 28, 2024
Laurel Jan Meyer, 70, of Mabelvale, Arkansas went to be with Jesus on November 28, 2024. She was born July 25, 1954 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Boyd and Maxie Simmons.
She worked at UPS for 32 years where she made some really great friends.
Jan was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for 34 years. One of her first memories there at church was her Sunday School teacher, Ms. Orene Caple. She has been a friend and mentor ever since. Throughout the years she has made many friends there. Jan was a strong, inspirational woman to everyone she knew. One of the most beautiful things about Jan was her ability to show love for others who were unwilling to show love for themselves. She reached so many people who needed her the most.
Jan loved being outside, working in her yard; reading a good book and loved encouraging people.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Maxine Simmons. Jan is survived by her husband of 51 years, Daryl Meyer; her daughters, Laura and Julie Meyer; her brother, Phil Simmons and sister-in-law, Kathy Simmons.
The family sends a special thank you to Brother Rick Porter, her pastor and friend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church after school program/WASH.
A service honoring the life of Jan will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 24310 N. Sardis Rd., Bauxite, Arkansas 72011.
