John Marshall Gattis, 64, of Scranton, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 in Fort Smith. He was born on May 5, 1960 in Paris, Arkansas to his parents, Roy D. and Ruby Jewell (Lowery) Gattis.
John worked many years in construction and was a member of the Dublin Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching football and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one daughter, Laura Freeman; three sisters, Irba Thompson, Carolyn Wewer and Debra Gattis; five brothers, Larry, Jimmy, Mike, Willie and Harlan Gattis and his partner of over 26 years, Sue Haynes.
He is survived by three sisters Judy Wewer and husband Bob of Scranton, Brenda Ahne and husband Bill of Scranton and Tammy Mathews and husband Rich of Scranton; one brother, Bonnie Ray Gattis and wife Kathy of Wichita, Kansas; one step son, Jeremy Haynes of Scranton; five grandchildren, Hunter Freeman, Joseph Johnson, Haleigh Johnson, Keena Haynes and Kimmy Haynes; his partner of over two years, Dottie Thomas of Scranton and his beloved dogs, Sassy and Ozzy.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Shane Kasper. Burial will follow in Prairie View Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Johnson, Marshall Gattis, Levi Herring, Adam Wewer, J.J. Wewer and Bobby Joe Lowery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Lowery, Rocky Lowery, Jim Lowery, Donnie Boney, Gary Varnell, Curt Taylor, Jason Gattis, John Gattis and Jeremy Haynes.
Johnny was a wonderful person so many ways I am with me tomorrow he's laughter he was all a little clown when he what's with us Rip johnny you will always be in my heart

Johnny, I have an especially fond memory of you when I was a senior and you were in the ninth grade and we shared ARKANSAS history with Mrs. Fox together. I fondly recall that to my family whenever your name comes up. May God Bless you and keep you in his loving arms as he presents you to your family that has prepared a place. For you and waited for you to come home

You were a great man and I am so glad that I knew you. I had the honor of taking care of you at Johnson County Health and Rehab Center. I know that you are no longer in pain and you are walking the streets of Gold. Until we meet again in heaven will miss you my brother in Christ.
