of Hector, AR
September 3, 1947 - October 31, 2024
Charles James Williams, age 77, of Hector, Arkansas passed from this earthly life on Thursday, October 31st, 2024 at Atkins Nursing and Rehab Center in Atkins, Arkansas. He was born in Witts Springs, Arkansas on September 3rd, 1947 to Johnnie Cleveland Williams and Jessie Mae Drewry Williams. Charles was of the Church of Christ faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Pat Aday Williams. They would have celebrated 15 years of blissful marriage in December. He was Pat's lifetime love and he brought her happiness beyond measure. Charles is also survived by his loving mother, Jessie Williams and his sister, Linda Drewry both of Witts Springs; his only daughter, Lora Rivera and husband, Marcos of Witts Springs; he was Pa Charles to three grandsons, Javier Rivera (Destiny) of Marshall, Tamos Rivera (Ressie) of Witts Springs and Lorenzo Rivera of Witts Springs and five great-grandsons, Carter, Cooper, Cayson, Bennett and Calloway. When talking about those babies, Charles would always mention how he wished his health would hold up, so he could enjoy watching them grow up, sadly his health continued to decline. Charles also was loved by his two nieces, Tina Davis (Walt) and Teresa Bell (Greg) and three great nieces, Laticia, Callie and Shelby.
Charles is preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Williams and brother-in-law, Bennie Drewry.
Charles worked at Searcy County Road Department during his younger years. Later, he worked at Carlton's Meat Processing Plant in Russellville. He made that long drive daily for years, working long hours, but before leaving his job he became a Professional Butcher. Finally, he returned to road construction at McClinton-Anchor Quarry until his retirement. In the most recent years, he found a new passion for peddling produce. Charles was a true cowboy at heart. He always loved watching western movies. He instilled the love of horses in his daughter at a very young age. He often told his favorite memory about a pony that his dad bought him and as a kid how proud he was of it and how he would ride it full speed and pretend he was Roy Rogers/Gene Autry. He also liked to reminisce about racing horses with other neighbor boys, stating that he most always won. He was known in the horse world for having an eye for good horses, therefore he later became a horse trader. He and Pat continued to go to horse auctions until his health failed. Charles greatest fear was not seeing his loved ones in Heaven someday. Despite his own health issues, he kept his faith and often worried about his family, praying for them relentlessly. Charles has won his last and greatest race of all, gaining a home in eternity.
Funeral services for Charles will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 4th, 2024 at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church near Jerusalem, Arkansas with Rev. Aaron Holt and Bro. Russ Fountain officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Cemetery. Bearers will be Clint Bell, Marcos Rivera, Tamos Rivera, Dennis Drewry, Wesley Aday and Melvin Emerson. Honorary bearers will be Greg Bell, Walt Davis, Lyle Aday, Guy Dale Blair and Kenneth Blair.
The family wishes to thank the Atkins Nursing & Rehab staff for the excellent care they provided to Charles during his stay there. The staff often said Charles was one of their favorite residents.
