Guylla Morris

of Mountain Home, AR

May 8, 1941 - October 25, 2024

Surrounded by her family, Guylla F. Morris, 83, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed peacefully into eternity on October 25th, 2024.

Guylla was born on May 8, 1941 to Elmo and May Norman in Mountain Home, Arkansas. In March of 1965 she married her beloved husband, Bill Morris.

As an in-home daycare provider for more than 40 years, Ms. Guylla as she was affectionately called by almost everyone who knew her cared for hundreds of children throughout her career. She also welcomed those children's parents into her home for meals, fellowship and sometimes free counseling. All the families who Guylla served would tell you that raising babies was much easier with Ms. Guylla around.

Guylla was a lifelong resident of Mountain Home and was well known as a fantastic cook, providing her famous chocolate gravy, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese and fried okra to anyone who came through her doors. There were always extras at Ms. Guylla's house and no one ever left hungry.

She had a unique style and you never saw her without some animal print or bright colors on. She loved to wear flashy jewelry and always kept a fresh manicure and pedicure.

Guylla was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and was a member of Christ Community Church. She loved the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Kansas City Chiefs and listening to Alan Jackson. But what she cherished the most was her beautiful family and her relationship with Jesus.

Guylla is survived by her three sons, Michael (Tina) Norman, Brad (Kelly) Morris and Steve Morris. She is also survived by one stepdaughter, Paula Hartman and one stepdaughter-in-law, Dorinda Morris. She was the best nana to her six grandchildren, Alicia (Bryan) Mattox, Jamie (Rob) Oubre, Ashton (Brett) Schmeski, Kiley (Billy) Wehmeyer, AJ Morris and Chris (Maria) Hartman. She is also survived by her six great grandchildren, Brayden Mattox, Ava, Jaxon and Baylon Oubre and Alyssa and Bella Schmeski. She will be deeply missed by her two special nieces, Ramona (Mark) Mayo and Terrie Lynn (Curtis) Treadway; as well as many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Guylla was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Morris; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jan Morris; her sister and brother-in-law, Esta Mae and George Robert Dahlke and her stepson, Bill Morris Jr.

A visitation will be held at Roller Funeral Home from 6:00- 8:00 PM on Monday, October 28th. Funeral services will be held at Christ Community Church at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 29th. The family encourages visitors to wear brightly colored clothing to honor Guylla.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Peitz Cancer Support House in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Not sure where you even start to describe the impact this amazing woman had on generations. She had the unique ability to love like no other yet held the highest standards for love and respect of peers and adults. My girls and I loved Ms. Guyla and as a mama, I will forever more be grateful for your help in raising my girls. She left as big of a legacy as a human can-now time for her to rest forever in glory land. We love you! Shana Roig, Ally and Maggy Hopper

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. My earliest memories as a child were waking from May’s house to Guylla’s and spending the afternoons there. I spent most of my early childhood with her and she was the best. She will love forever in my heart..

Praying for your family during this difficult time! I have so many fond memories of Ms. Guylla taking great care of me when I was a kid. I remember watching the Price is Right at her house for the first time. Her house was a source of comfort and was always spotless. She was always so good to us. She was a special caregiver and a wonderful person. Peace be with you all. Sending deepest condolences and love.

So Sorry to hear this about Guylia, my 1st Cousin! I will never forget she always attended the White Family Reunion in Baxter County, We, also, got to visit her, at her her home while she was babysitting. I will also never forget getting to spend a couple of nights at her home when she was very young, and her sister Esta Mae tried to dip snuff that Mae had. I am sure she never forgot that. We got to talk about that when we visited her at her home. Love her, my cousin!!!
