Billy Joe ''Joe'' Abrams, 80, of Greenbrier passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, October 9, 2024 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born June 13, 1944 to the late Willie and Carrie Abrams Cardin. Joe was also preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Bennings and brother, Bob Abrams.
Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Tommie Ellen Abrams; his daughter, Jo Ellen ''Jody'' and her husband, Monty Havens. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and friends.
Joe was a long-time member of Springhill Baptist Church. He was a retired commercial construction superintendent, carpenter and former cattle farmer. He enjoyed toy farm shows, collecting many, many toy tractors and farm implements over the years. He loved restoring old antique tractors, sanding, painting and making them like new again.
The family would like to extend special gratitude to Jerry and Christy Clifton for their aid and support during Joe's illness. Also, thanks to the many friends and neighbors that took the time to keep Joe company over the past several months. Lastly, we want to thank Gentiva Hospice for their care, especially Rachel, Lindsey, Natalie and Jenny.
Funeral services will be held at Springhill Baptist Church on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 2:00pm. Pallbearers will be Chad and Gabe Freyaldenhoven, Robbie Snowden, Dan Duran, James Lewis and Clint Reekie. The burial will be at Springhill Cemetery immediately following the services.
