Barbara Elaine Ragland

of Leslie, AR

July 11, 1958 - September 28, 2024

Barbara Elaine Ragland, age 66, of Leslie, Arkansas passed from this earthly life on Saturday, September 28th, 2024 at Highland Court in Marshall, Arkansas. She was born in Judsonia, Arkansas on July 11th, 1958 to Marvin Coombe and Ivy Lee Betts McDaniel.

Barbara was a member of the Thola Community Church. She worked at Friendship for many years until her health no longer allowed. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and feeding the birds. She was an excellent artist and painter. Barbara loved Christmas and she loved children. She always looked forward to making Christmas cookies with all the children in the family. If one word could be used to describe Barbara it would be ''Fighter''. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and shortly after that in 2008 she suffered a brain aneurysm, then a stroke. When her cancer came back most would have given up, but our ''Miracle Girl'' fought even harder. She was given 16 more precious years with her family. Her quick, sassy wit and sense of humor never left her, up until the very end of her life. Barbara loved her family dearly. She was their biggest fan. Her favorite part of the week was her Sunday rides with Darrell and his dog, Miley. Her fierce, strong spirit will be greatly missed by those who knew her best.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Clifton V. Ragland of the home; her son, Darrell Ragland of Leslie; daughter, Jeanie Elaine Ragland of Leslie; siblings, Kathie McDaniel (Kenny) of Marshall, Terry Watts (Jarrett) of Leslie, Douglas Coombe (Teresa) of Sidon and Bruce Coombe (Angel) of Marshall; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family who will also mourn her passing.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Ivy McDaniel.

Funeral services for Barbara will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Justin Brooks officiating. Bearers will be Dirk Watts, Brandon Coombe, James Watson, Packy Ragland, Todd Ragland and Craig Ragland. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery near Marshall. The family would like to give a very special thank you to Dione Henry, Kathy Jean Smith, Sandy Ragland, Kathie McDaniel, Terry Watts, Courtney Perry, Justin Brooks, Kathy Hoskins, the staff at ICU, Conway Regional, especially nurse, Tiffany Jaime and the staff at Highland Court.

I have no words. None that can actually bring comfort, peace. Nor her return.. People mean well....it's devasting to see families we've known and loved our whole lives. Y'all boys were my buddies. She absolutely loves my best of a kid in Friendship. She had a beautiful heart and soul and while y'all and everyone is gonna miss her forever, Heaven will shine much brighter. I love you all and my heart is with you.

Clifton,Darrell and Jeannie and rest of family you are all in my prayers
Clifton I have known you for a long time and have always thought of you as a good friend and then later I got to know Darrell and loved listening to him play music I never did get to meet Jeanie but Clifton was always talking about her and Barbara. I met Barbara a long time ago when I went to see Darrell play for the first time and I was so impressed by the way the way you treated and cared for her I had just recently gotten divorced and that was neat to see how you guys were together
I didn't see her after that till last year but when you would come to homecoming at Big Flat you were always talking about Barb and you could tell how much you cared for her
Then I got to meet her at the Gathering Place several times and we really hit it off I could see how you and Darrell were so crazy about her she was awesome and she loved you guys so much and she loved listening to Darrell play I took pictures of you guys and then someone took one of all of us together
I thought I would get to see her a lot more and I am sorry I didn't get out there more than I did
but I will treasure the few times we did and we even found out we were kin to each other
I know you all will miss her but you have so many great memories
God bless you all

The Class of '76 lost a classmate who always had a smile and a positive attitude. Christmas was her favorite day of the year. I watched Facebook for her June 25 post, knowing she'd be warning us that Christmas was a short 6 months away. Her joy in a cup of coffee, a gadget that helped her cook, a jar of jelly demonstrated that she embraced joy.
