of Harrison, AR
October 22, 1935 - September 24, 2024
Bonnie L. Sims Paul, age 88, of Harrison, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at a nursing facility in Fort Smith. She was born at Hilltop on October 22, 1935, to Earnest and Lula Stewart Sims.
She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed sharing her faith with the youth of her church by teaching Sunday School. The kids all knew the books of the bible by singing her songs. In her later years, she and Ronnie attended Golden Years at Northside Church of Christ. She graduated from Harrison in 1953 and later moved to Wichita, Kansas to study Nursing. It was there that she met the love of her life, Ronnie Paul, and they were married on December 30, 1954, celebrating over 60 years together. It was there that they started their family, with Randy, shortly followed by Rhonda. They moved to California and added Rick to the family. They then moved back to Harrison in the early 60s to the old Stewart family home. It was on the mountain that they extended their family again, with Roger and Renita.
She worked at the Boone County Hospital as a surgical tech while raising five children and helping Ronnie on the farm. In the early 80s, she started at Emerson Electric and retired in 1991. She loved her Emerson family and they loved her. When things got boring, the mountain kids would head to the holler and she would take them for hay rides. She had a passion for what she called spider rocks. She loved caring for her chickens; her grandchildren, Shannon (Eric) Carithers, Starla (Wes) Sexton, Jennifer Ramsey (Steve Wagoner), Trish Bartley (Jeremiah Woehl), Dusty (Brittany) Paul, Max (Jessica) Paul, Robert (Brittany) Ortiz, Krystal Paul, Roger Skeeter (Naomi) Paul, Jr., Stevie Paul, Brandon Paul, Jon (Patricia) Moore, Victoria Grindstaff, and Chelsea Grandstaff; Great-Grandchildren, Ethan (Miranda) Dean, Evan Dean, Cierra Paul, Emersyn Paul, Ashley Butler, Kaitlyn (Waylon) Willis, Bryton & Breccan Bartley, Trinity Paul, Ashlyn, Raine and Daisy Paul, Kaden, Korey and Kolton Moore, Lyrah Hughes, Les Grindstaff, Keagan, Noah, Abby and Kytie, MiMi, Manny, Mario, Lily, JR Ortiz and Abbie Grinder; Great-Great-Grandchildren, Kooper Dean, Chance Butler and Enzo Willis and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Paul; her parents; son, Rick Paul; daughter, Renita Paul; great-grandson, Ronnie Paul and sisters, Fern Gibbs and Sue Frazier.
She is survived by three children, Randy Paul, Rhonda Paul Watkins, and Roger Paul; brothers-in-law, Danny (Linda) Paul and Jackie (Joan) Paul; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews that she loved very much.

I'm sorry to hear of her passing, but full of joy to know she has achieved the final destination she lived for. Although she was my mother-in-law, I felt like I had been her son all my life. Bonnie had a way of making EVERYONE feel loved. She was indeed a great example of a Christian mother. I was blessed to have known her.
We are so sad to hear of the passing of Bonnie Paul. She was such a sweet and caring person. Our thoughts and prayers are with all her loved ones.
