of Vian, OK
December 28, 1958 - September 11, 2024
Max Leo Litton of Vian, OK and Conway, AR went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Beloved husband of Cynthia Litton: beloved father to Lyndsey Litton (Keith Lipscomb), Jerrod Litton (Nathan Ray), Zach Litton (Virginia), Lexy Litton (Jett Tolliver), honorary daughter, Amanda Ruesing and a very dear stepfather to Michael Beesley, Michelle Hohimer, BJ Elmore (Sarah), Bishop Elmore (Makenzie).
Much loved Grandfather and Papa to Avery Litton, Alaya ''Lala'' and Athena Litton, Moriah Hanshaw, Andrew and Emily Hanks, Kody, Greysyn, Hudsyn, Asher, and Ayla Elmore & KC Hohimer.
Dear brother to Mary (Jerry) Ford, Harold (Heather) Litton, Ronald Litton, uncle and dear friend to many. Preceded in death by his mother and father Otis Litton and Margaret Shock Litton, brothers, Donald and Gary Litton. And his wife, of 38 years, and mother to his children, Sherry Lynn Litton.
Max was full of life. Always with a wise crack and a smile on his face. He got the restaurant ''bug'' in his teens. He was an entrepreneur early on. He and Sherry used that vision and energy to open the very popular ''Country Sampler'' in Conway AR, which eventually grew to 3 locations. He then went back into his advertising business and was responsible for creating Access Media.
Max met Cynthia Smyers in 2018 and were married June 14, 2020. Max continued to charge through life and he and Cynthia built Smyers Litton where it is a thriving business that Cynthia will continue to carry on. Most recently he was responsible, in a large part, for the success of the Renaissance Fair in Mount Vernon, AR with his dear friend Patrick Taft. Max and Cynthia had found their forever home on Lake Lonnie and were looking forward to fishing on the deck and swinging on the porch and Fall rides in their convertibles they bought the morning he passed away.
Max was known for his ''can do'' attitude and willingness to ''roll up his sleeves'' and make things happen. He had many friends, old and new, and was known for his blue eyes and ready smile.
Max, you often said ''I'm blessed beyond my deserves'' We weren't ready for you to go, but we know you are at peace in heaven with your Lord and Savior. Max always said ''only thing free in life is Salvation'' his hope and prayers were for all his family and friends to make it to heaven.
Our deepest condolences to all of Max's family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during your tme of sadness. We met Max around the time he opened the (original) Country Sampler, and we ate many a delicious meal there. Our times there always included a quick, or not-so-quick, visit with Max (depending on how busy he was), usually with him telling a funny story or two. He always had a smile. He was a great guy and will be missed by many.
I feel very lucky to have our paths cross from our days with Shoneys your many other endeavors. I am so glad i was able to visit with you when doing your last project
Always the funny and social fella. Our sympathies go out to all his children in your time of need. He will be missed.
Zach, I am so sorry to hear of the sudden passing of your father. My condolences and prayers are with you and your family during these difficult times.
I'm so sorry for your loss.. keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers.
Many of my childhood memories involved Max and Sherry. My parents were best friends so we were together often. Lyndsay and I were like sisters with Jared and Zack being brothers to me. Lexy was a blessing that came later. This is heartbreaking and my prayers are with all who loved him. He was a huge presence who loved his family dearly.
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of our longtime friend Max Litton. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family during this time of loss. Over the last thirty plus years I have known Max as he served in several capacities including restaurant manager, phonebook salesman and publisher, restaurant owner and friend. He was a customer of ours with our roofing company and in recent years at my nursery. He was particularly kind to us when my wife passed away a few years ago. I had the privilege of going out to eat with him several times where we often talked about the Bible and the goodness of God.
Max Litton will be missed. His family will be in my prayers.
Cindy, we are so very sorry to hear of the passing of Max. We are holding you up in prayer in the days ahead asking him to comfort you as only He can.
Max was a dear friend since we first met in 5th grade. I could write pages explaining all the great things about him, but instead I will keep it simple and say this- if anyone deserves to be in the kingdom of God - it's my friend Max Litton. To his family and those who loved him just remember...death is a temporary separation. Rock on my friend! We will see you again..
Max was such a big presence! I've known him my whole life and could always expect a lot of laughter whenever he came around. You'll be so missed Max.
I knew him in the 1980's and 90's. He was driven to success. He was always gracious and a good friend. Wish i'd known more recently.
Max you will be missed tremendously to say the least. All the laughter, the stories, the jokes, and all the times you won, while flipping quarters down the hall in my office.
Such a wonderful, cheerful, fabulous person. And a much better friend.
