July 27, 1946 - September 9, 2024

On September 9, 2024, Audie Gene Bixler of Marshall, Arkansas passed peacefully to his heavenly home at the age of 78 after a long illness. He was born July 27, 1946 in Marshall, Arkansas to Myrtle Parks and Ollie Bixler. He was raised with his mom and her husband, Charles ''Chuck'' Greiner.

He grew up in Long Beach, California as the oldest of his siblings. He was a wonderful big brother, who they all relied on for love and support. He attended Long Beach High School until he was a junior, joining the United States Marines at the age of 17, earning his high school diploma while serving. He served his country honorably for 4 years, serving in the Vietnam War and earning the rank of Sergeant.

He found the love of his life when he returned home to the United States, he even got her in trouble with her parents on their first date, but he got his girl. He married Mikelyn Joyce Champagne on November 18, 1967. They built a life they loved for 57 years, blessed with three children and four grandchildren.

Audie worked as a machinist at PHI, Pasadena Hydraulics in Pasadena, California for most of his career. He and his family went into the restaurant business opening 4 Red Barron Pizza Parlors across southern California including video stores. After deciding to step away from the busy restaurant life, he worked for Pepsi before retiring and moving to Marshall, Arkansas with his wife, Mikelyn in 1993. They purchased Audie's grandparents' home, Arthur and Nellie Parks homestead, spending time that year remodeling the home. In 1994, he opened Bixler's Oil & Lube in Marshall, working 6 days a week at the shop. He loved visiting with the community, working with Chuck and helping people.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mikelyn; two beautiful daughters, Tina Bixler of Covina, California and Tracy Bixler Gorham of Marshall; his pride and joy, his four grandchildren, Chad Chase of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Victoria Misener of Covina, California, Trapper Bixler and Jeffery ''Bull'' Bixler and their mother, Stacy all of Marshall; one sister, Barbara Smith (James) of Fayetteville; two brothers, Ollie Dean Bixler of Huntsville and Jack Bixler (Debbie) of Bergman and many extended family and friends who will mourn his passing.

Audie is preceded in death by his parents and his extra dad, Charles Greiner; a wonderful son, Jeffery Gene Bixler who passed in 2004 and siblings, Jesse Wayne Bixler and Kathy Jane Henderson.

Graveside services for Audie will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Marshall Memorial Gardens in Marshall, Arkansas with Leo Miller officiating. Honorary bearers will be grandchildren, Chad Chase, Victoria Misener, Trapper Bixler and Jeffery ''Bull'' Bixler; Dave Carson, Mike Oras, Carroll Small, David Carson, Charlie Tyler, Buddy Parks, James Smith and Michael Smith.

I have nothing but love and respect for Audie. He is one of those great ones you wish could stick around forever. He was always there for others and for me.
In passing, he can now be everywhere for everyone. I'm going to take some comfort in that because it's his most cherished quality and a role he has surely missed.

Audie was a good, hard working man. I knew him from having our oil changed at Bixler's and his sister, Barbara, is married to my cousin, James. Chuck and Audie were nice to me and very good at what they did. I know Audie must have been a neat person because he wore two caps, one for when he changed my oil and would put on the clean cap when he was finished! Just a happy memory of mine to cheer you. Rest in peace Audie.
