Arthur Dennis LockI am a Veteran.

of Conway, AR

February 21, 1938 - August 30, 2024

Arthur Dennis Lock, 86, died peacefully at home on August 30, 2024. He was born in Conway, Arkansas, a son of Ernest J. and Mary Catherine Bruich Lock. Dennis was preceded in death by his brothers, James (Martha), Alvin (Betty), Clarence and Donald of Conway; Ernest J. of North Little Rock and his sister, Mary Weber of Heber Springs.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beatrice Luyet Lock; two sons, Greg (Karen) of Conway and Jason D. of Maumelle; two grandchildren, Emily Lock of Bentonville and Brandon (Makenzy) Lock of Conway. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Dana Lock of North Little Rock and Linda Lock of Conway; brother-in-law, Garrel Weber of Heber Springs and a host of nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Little Rock Catholic High, Dennis served in the US. Army Reserves. In 1966, he received a BSE from Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA); then taught Social Studies in North Little Rock for a few years before joining Bart Gray Realty in Jacksonville, where he was sales manager and a Million Dollar Producer.

During his 15-year real estate career in Jacksonville, Dennis was an active member of the North Pulaski Real Estate Association (President I976), Jaycees (Outstanding Young Man 1971), Rotary Club (President), Chamber of Commerce (Board of Directors, President 1981-), Planning Commission and St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church.

In 1982, Dennis moved his family home to Conway where he and his wife, Bea, owned/managed the Best Western Conway until their retirement in 2006. He was an active member of Conway Chamber of Commerce, Conway Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow and Perfect Attendance), Arkansas Lodging Association (board member and 1991 President), St. Joseph Church and Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus.

Dennis spent his retirement enjoying time with family and friends. He loved the time spent with his grandkids and was most happy when his family gathered at his house for spaghetti dinners. He also enjoyed social time and dining out with his 'super club' friends. Dennis will be remembered by many as always having a warm smile and kind word anytime he was out and about and for those who came to visit.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to the Conway Regional Hospital ER & ICU staff, Hospice Home Care nurses and Visiting Angels.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 12:00pm, with a rosary and visitation beginning at 11:00am in the main sanctuary of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway, AR. Final entombment will be in the St. Joseph Mausoleum at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

I will miss the conversations that I would have with Dennis and Bea at their house. They were neighbors with my grandmother and they treated me like family. He influenced my life a tremendous amount and he will not be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with the Lock family.

Dear Lock Family, I’m sorry for your loss. Denny and I enjoyed having Dennis and Bea attend the Renew Program at our home years ago. Denny said he felt God touched Dennis at the meetings. Also, he sat at our table during the Bible Timeline Program and we enjoyed his presence and uplifting humor. May he rest in the peace of the Lord. Bea, may Christ’s love and comfort be with you and your family. In deep sympathy,Helena

Our deepest sympathies for the family, you will all be in our thoughts and prayers. It’s been a few years ago, but when I worked at the motel, he would bring me a donut every morning. He was always so sweet and kind and will be missed.

His first name is Arthur! I had no idea! But I do know Uncle Sweet Cheeks is in heaven telling jokes to bring laughter to all who surround him. I'm deeply grateful for the years of love and laughter he blessed us with. My thoughts and prayers are with Bea, Greg, Jason and the family all during this difficult time.
