Robert E Pollard Jr.

of Proctor, AR

March 4, 1945 - August 29, 2024

Robert E. "Bob" Pollard Jr., age 79, passed away peacefully in the family home in Proctor, AR on Thursday, August 29, 2024. He was born in Helena, AR on March 4, 1945 to parents Robert E. Pollard Sr and Doris Carlton Pollard Holtz. His is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 49 years, Julienne ''Judy'' Latimer Pollard.

Bob is survived by 2 sisters, Pam (Terry) Falkner of West Memphis, AR and Babs (Greg) Ton of Franklin, TN; 2 daughters, Julienne (DJ) Penter of Trumann, AR and Robin Pollard of Proctor, AR; 4 Grandchildren, Jesse Penter of Trumann, AR, Eva Daughhetee of Proctor, AR, Annaleigh Penter at Mississippi State University and Robin Daughhetee at University of Oklahoma and 2 nieces, Jenny Ton and Julie Ton Henry.

Bob's childhood years were spent in Crenshaw, MS. He and his family later moved to Proctor, AR where he would graduate from West Memphis high school in 1963. During his high school years, he was a decorated football player where he earned the nickname ''Bear'', to which his grandchildren still lovingly call him. His high school career was also full of honor roll achievements and topped off with being President of his senior class. But he really loved to tell the stories being a ''protective big brother'' while affectionately teasing his adored younger sisters, Pam and Babs.

Bob attended Mississippi State University, where he was an active member of Alpha Tau Omega and met the absolute love of his life, Judy. In 1966, Bob and Judy graduated from MSU with degrees in Mathematics (Bob) and English Education (Judy). They were married on December 17, 1966.

Bob and Judy returned to Proctor, AR to farm with his father. Judy taught English in Earle, AR for 1 year, after which Bob convinced her to drive a tractor instead. They were active members of First United Methodist Church of West Memphis, AR where they led many Sunday School classes, leadership committees and children's activities.

Bob was an avid quail hunter, which included his beloved bird dogs, whom he and his father trained together. He was often known to comically miss family events for a good hunt.

Next to Judy and their girls, Rice farming was his life-long passion. If the weather permitted him to leave the farm, he was found at the lake showing off his water-skiing skills. But teaching others to water-ski became his passion, which led to so many genuine friendships along the way. All of this led to his true legacy, his 4 grandchildren of which he proudly referred to as his 2 farmers, 1 Accountant & 1 Meteorologist.

The life lessons he shared with his grandchildren were always rooted in Agriculture. Bob and Judy strived to show God's Love to every person in their lives. They truly exemplified unconditional love through their 49 year marriage that started with a marriage proposal on a blind date.

Visitation will be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 12:00pm-2:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 2:00pm in the Chapel. A private graveside service will follow. The family gives special thanks to special care givers, Kathryn Hodges with Elite Hospice and Versie Johnson and Denise Brownlee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests for lasting memorials to be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or other charitable organizations.

So sorry for your lost.. My family moved to Proctor when my 2 sister and I were little. Our family rented 5 acres from Bob next to the wooden bridge before you got to his farm shop. I got the privilege working for him and his dad when I turned 15 helping them out on the farm after school and during the summer until I turned 18 it was a great learning experience. He will truly be missed. R.I.P. my friend.

Bob and his sister Pam and brother in law Terry rented our farm at Hughes for many years. My father Dock Warren and mother Kathleen Warren were so fond of Bob and Judy. After my parents death, I continued to rent the farm to them. Bob was a true gentleman. I am so sorry to learn of his passing. Bill Warren

The best friend I had in this world has died and I miss him. But knowing Bob the way I did, he is grieving for us because he is in a much better place. And he is with the love of his life again. Not many people know this, but we saved each others life. He pulled me out of a ditch full of water by grabbing my shotgun barrel and I pulled him out of hole he stepped into by grabbing his rod. I never heard him say a bad word about anyone and I gave him lots of chances, but that wasn't in his nature. I expect Ms. Judy will let him go bird hunting with his dad on occasion. If you would, my friend, keep at least one covey of birds in reserve. I haven't shot a quail in a long time.

I cannot believe Bob is gone! We were friends since high school. Bob, Judi and I met for lunch every couple of years or so, and we talked more often on the phone. I will truly miss him but know he is with the love of his life in Heaven. RIP Bob; you more than earned it.

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Robin, Julienne, and the grandchildren. I have many wonderful memories of visiting with Uncle Bob since I was very little. He was one of the nicest and most giving people I have ever known. I stopped by to visit a couple of months ago and we sat and talked for over three hours. He told me stories I had never heard. He was a man of the finest kind.
