July 20, 1952 - August 18, 2024

Brenda Pearl (Duett) McDonald of Byhalia, MS passed away peacefully at home August 18, 2024 after a long journey with Alzheimer's. Until the end Brenda maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude for her life full of wonderful adventures with her loving husband, children and grandchildren.
Brenda's life can be encapsulated with a few words: Family, Friends, Fun, Flowers and Food. And most of all Shopping. In her 72 years here with us she experienced a lot of all of it.
She was born in Harrisburg, AR on July 20, 1952 to Denver Wayne and Dorothy Mae (Seals) Duett. Brenda attended Treadwell High School and graduated in the class of 70, then going on to work at the Internal Revenue Service before starting her long career at Fed Ex. There she worked for 20 years until retirement.
Brenda was a devoted mother to Sheila King and Alicia York. Most of all her pride and joy was her grandchildren, Chester King Jr., Destinee King, Alexis King and Matthew York.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gary Duett. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Dennis McDonald of Byhalia, MS; her children, Sheila King (Chester) of Olive Branch, MS and Alicia York (Michael) of Ashland City, TN; Aunt, Teresa Howell; four grandchildren and her nieces and nephew.
The family of Brenda would like express how grateful we are to her primary hospice care team, Barbara Ward and Donna Perry, along with all of the caregivers that touched our lives, for all of their kindness, loving care and dedication along this journey.
To honor and celebrate the life of Brenda, a funeral service will be held on August 22, 2024 located at Carey Chapel Baptist Church at 170 Carey Chapel Rd, Red Banks, MS 38661. Family visitation 11-12pm, Public visitation 12-1pm, Service 1 p.m. Following the service Brenda will be laid to rest at Carey Chapel Cemetery. Refreshments will be served at the church following the service.
Each life is precious, each person has a divine purpose and the grand story that we all play a part in is still unfolding. Leaving a legacy that will far outlast us all.
