Roy Lee Thompson, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 1, 2024 with his loving and caring wife, Betty by his side. He was born February 8, 1945 in Marked Tree, Arkansas to parents, Roland Oscar and Thelma West Thompson.
Roy was a member of the Christ Outreach Church in West Memphis. He was a retired commercial truck driver and an avid Nascar memorabilia collector with Mark Martin being his favorite driver. He was a very proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved to spend time outdoors over the years catfishing as well as camping, deer hunting and bowling in a league.
Surviving Roy is his wife of 40 years, Betty Ann Thompson; Roy also leaves his daughter, Pam Goodman; his sisters, Cathy (Jerry) Lee, Susan Kennedy, Becky Lawson, Joyce (Bobby) Kennedy and Joann Ott; his bother, Robert (Dianne) Thompson; along with three grandchildren, Tyler Thompson, Billy May, Hunter Goodman and three great grandchildren, Bentley Goodman, Michael Goodman and Liliana Goodman; as well as his daily companion ''Bandit''. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeff Thompson; brothers, Eugene, Freddie and Perry Thompson and his sisters, Janie Deaton and Mary May.
The family would like to express they're thanks to the Elite Hospice team and to 1st Choice Home Care for their devoted and caring services. In Lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests a donation be made to the American Alzheimer's Association or to the Furgiven Animal Sanctuary.
Both Visitation and Service will be held at the Chapel of Roller- Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM followed by the Service at 12:00 PM. Burial with Military Honors will take place after at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in Birdeye, Arkansas.
