July 8, 1951 - July 6, 2024

Theo Daniel Hooten, 72, of San Diego, California passed away on 6 July 2024. He was born on 8 July 1951 in Batesville, Arkansas to the late Herbert Earl Hooten and Zola Wallace Hooten. He was a retired boating and sporting goods salesman and a veteran of the Arkansas National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his brother, Michael Earl Hooten, and his wife, Laura Ann Hooten of Denver, Colorado and his niece, Leah Michelle Hooten of Baltimore, Maryland.

He was known to those close to him as Dan. He was wildly gregarious and had an infectious laugh. He enjoyed golfing and traveling to both Mexico and the Philippines where he had many very close friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00AM, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier, Arkansas on 28 September 2024. A burial will immediately follow the service at Copperas Springs Cemetery in Guy, Arkansas.

Dan worked for me in his career as an independent Stingray Boats representative. I was traveling the west coast (and staying with Dan in his beautiful SanDiego home) on 9/11. We were driving to a local area dealership the morning the Trade Towers were hit and heard the news on his radio in the van he was driving at the time. Due to airport closures and ground stops nationwide, I stayed with him for over a week and ended up driving back to my home in Columbia, SC from San Diego. Dan was among the best! He was a "street-smart" salesman (as I called him) with a tremendous personality that opened many doors in the industry and endeared him to those who were fortunate enough to know him! I was one of those guys that loved working with him, even if he did wear his cowboy boots to boat shows! He will be sorely missed! All my best to the family in your loss. RIP Dan!

So sorry to read this. A lot of good memories of life on Stanton and Baseline roads. I spent a lot of time with Dan and Mike. Goodbye old friend and rest in peace.

Having owned a home two doors down from Dan for 18 years, I certainly agree that the world was a much better place with him in it. One could not walk away from seeing or talking with Dan, without feeling good. He left a huge footprint wherever he went. We w
