Veda Maurine Winkles, 68, of Sulphur Rock passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024.
She was born January 5, 1956 in Batesville, Arkansas to Charlie Horton and Olene (Hagler) Horton.
Veda was a member of the Eastern Star Ruth Chapter 91. She worked for White Rodgers for over 30 years. Veda was funny and never met a stranger. She loved spending time with her grandson. She enjoyed baking and cooking especially during the holidays, gardening, watching old westerns on TV and watching the LA Lakers play.
Survivors include her son, Ernest Winkles (Vanessa) of Sulphur Rock; Tiffany Hix (Malcom III) of Batesville; one brother, Charles Horton of Florida; three sisters, Gale Smith (David) of Florida, Dortha Sparks (Butch) and Linda Carter (Dale) both of Sulphur Rock; one grandchild, Caden Robinson and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial gathering will be held from 5:00-7:00pm Monday, July 29, 2024 at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

So sorry to read this. We didn't visit with the family but once a year when my Mom and Dad were alive, but I remember staying with Maurine's family one year when we visited. Prayers for the family. Love you all.
