Dorothea Faye (Thomas Trotter) Pearson died Sunday, July 21, 2024 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born in Dumas, Arkansas on August 10, 1943. Formerly of Gould, Arkansas, Dorothea has been living in West Memphis, Arkansas since 2004. She is preceded in death by her parents, George Alfred Thomas and Helen Grace Bills and one sister, Linda Gail Earls. Dorothea is survived by her daughter, Dewanda (Trotter) Kirkland of West Memphis; son-in-law, Lee Kirkland; two grandchildren, Kaelyn Kirkland and Byron Kirkland and her sister, Arvilla Venable of California.
From a farmer's wife to tax office manager, to interior decorator, to photographer, Dorothea's life reflected intelligence, a strong worth ethic and an eye for making things beautiful. Having never done something before, never stopped her from succeeding. ''I knew it would not be easy; I did it anyway.''. Dorothea will be remembered in a ceremony in the Great Smoky Mountains where her ashes will be scattered in the Tennessee River.
