of Sherwood, AR
January 25, 1936 - July 13, 2024
Patsy Ruth White Wright, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024. She was born in Little Rock, AR to David Charles and Ruth Rose White on January 25, 1936. Upon graduation from Little Rock High School (Central) in 1953, Patsy pursued her life-long dream of becoming a nurse. She proudly attended St Vincent's School of Nursing. Back in those days students were not allowed to marry while in school. Patsy, however, wanted to marry John (Bob) Wright and true to her nature, she got what she wanted. Bob and Patsy eloped to Greenville, MS and kept their marriage a secret until her graduation. They were 19 years old and remained married the rest of their lives.
Patsy worked for Arkansas Children's Hospital for the next forty years, where she received numerous awards and accolades as a nurse, teacher and leader. Her 1956 nursing pin can be found in a display case at St Vincent's Infirmary to this day. Patsy loved to read fiction. She read to the children of Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School for many years. She also liked to read while lounging on the beach. She and Bob enjoyed traveling, especially after retirement. Spring and Fall were their favorite seasons to visit their favorite destination: Destin, Florida. After a morning at the beach, Patsy headed to the outlet malls. Patsy loved to shop. Anytime, anywhere.
Patsy was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she held many leadership positions, including president of the State of Arkansas Disciple Women's Fellowship. She dearly loved going on ''retreat'' each year with her many friends from the Region, including Nell Coleman, her best friend of fifty years. Patsy recently transferred her church membership to Park Hill Christian Church in North Little Rock where she was immediately treated like family. In 2021 Patsy moved to Willow Grove Assisted Living in Sherwood, AR to be closer to her daughter. There she found and ''adopted'' special friends, Dawn Byrd, Haley Duncan and Jacqueline Walls. They took wonderful care of her, especially these last few months and the family is deeply grateful.
Patsy was predeceased by her husband; parents; three siblings, Barbara Ann, Lloyd Edward and David Charles, Jr.; son, John Michael Wright and grandson, Christopher Michael Wright. She is survived by her daughter, Marianne Ruth Satterfield (Mike); sister, Sharron Rose White of Jonesboro; niece, Angela Rose Southerland (Kris); granddaughter, Tiffany Wright and grandsons, Benjamin Wright Satterfield; step-grandsons, Sy Michael and Bret Hand Satterfield; as well as many nieces; nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2024 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock, AR. Honorary Pallbearers are Grandsons, Ben, Sy and Bret Satterfield; nephews, Dr. Ron Wright, Kris Lancaster, Steve Southerland and Bill Johnson, Jr.

So nice to have known your mother, Marianne. I was her Avon lady the last three years and enjoyed our talks. I got to know you through your mom. She always talked about her family.

Very sorry for your loss, Marianne. I didn’t know your mom very well, but I can definitely tell her light was shining through you based on what I’ve been reading. All my love. Kevin .
Pat's outgoing nature, strength of character, and deep Christian faith were inspirational to me and to so many others. I'm grateful to have known her and to call her my friend. Deepest sympathy to all in her beloved family.
