Jean Church Parrack

of Conway, AR

October 3, 1931 - July 10, 2024

Jean Church Parrack, 92, of Conway, AR, went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2024. Jean was born October 3, 1931, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Clifford and Mary Church.

She graduated from Eastern High School in 1949 and moved to Boston to attend Simmons College, graduating in 1953 with a degree in library science. She worked in a public library in Brooklyn, NY, for two years before returning to Baltimore upon her father's death. Jean then worked closer to home at the Enoch Pratt Free Library for many years. She married Dean Parrack in 1968, and they had their son John a few years later. Through Dean's work at IBM, the family made their home in Washington D.C., Milwaukee, Baltimore, and Lincoln, Nebraska.

Later, Jean and Dean enjoyed traveling the world with family and friends, visiting Hong Kong, Australia, Israel, and Kenya, among other places. Jean was an avid and passionate reader and a kind and generous person with an unmatched wit. Over several decades, she volunteered for many organizations, including the Sheldon Art Gallery in Lincoln, and loved the arts, especially classical and church music.

She was the devoted mother of John C. Parrack (Jennifer Patterson) and grandmother of Rynn and Will Parrack of Conway, Arkansas. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Dean, her dear sister Betty, and by her brothers- and sisters-in-law. Jean is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at a future date in Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Program at First United Methodist Church in Conway, AR, which she attended for many years after moving to Arkansas (conwayfumc.org/give).

Dear John & Jen - I loved watching your mother enjoy the music in church -- especially when you and/or Jen or Rynn or Will were contributing. We are sending many peaceful and prayerful thoughts to you all.
