Linda Carol (Merriott) Harris was born January 28, 1945, at St. Joseph Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas to loving parents Stanley Lee and Bernice (Hope) Merriott. She walked into the loving arms of Jesus on July 8, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family.
Linda spent her young life in Hot Springs and Hughes, Arkansas. During her high school career Linda played basketball and was Cheer Squad Captain, graduating Hughes High School in 1963. Linda's heart for others made her career in nursing an obvious choice. Graduating from LPN school in 1965, she cared for countless patients throughout her career. Linda loved to share her experiences and recount the changes in nursing with young nurses. Linda's caring and compassionate spirit was shared with her daughters, Judy and Cynthia (Dianne) who followed her footsteps into nursing careers. Linda's talents were not limited to nursing. She played piano for many years at the Oak Grove Baptist Church during her time in Clarkton, Missouri. She loved canning and cooking for her family. She was a gifted ceramist, with some of her pieces still enjoyed by her family. Linda married the love of her life, Bobby ''Buster'' Harris in 1986. Bonded by a shared love of nursing, the couple enjoyed camping, fishing together and caring for their family and pets until Bobby's passing in 2015.
Linda devoted her life to Christ at age 11. She endeavored to share faith with all who crossed her path. She was a faithful prayer warrior and shining example of Christian love. At the time of her passing, she was a member of the Church of God in Humboldt, TN.
Linda's greatest blessings were her two daughters Cynthia Dianne Dowdy, who cared for her with unwavering commitment and grace, and Judy Lassiter, who proceeded her in death. She enjoyed a special bond with her bonus son, Don Lassiter, who she delighted in sharing jokes and memories with during their daily phone calls. Linda was sassy and playful. Her loving spirit will be sorely missed by all who love her.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Dianne (Joey), Dowdy. Her son, Don Lassiter. Grandchildren Mitchell (Alaina) Bonicelli, Jessica (Jarred) Brotherton, Chase (Bethany) Dowdy, Chance Dowdy, three great grandchildren, and brother Michael Merriott.
In addition to her husband and daughter, Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
Services honoring Linda's legacy will be held on July 14, 2024, at Roller Citizens Funeral Home Chapel in West Memphis, Arkansas. Visitation will start at 2:00pm and last until 3:00pm with graveside services at 3:30pm.
