Lawanda Rose Reid Howard passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Heartland Rehabilitation and Care Center in Benton, AR where she had lived for the past few years. Lawanda was born on December 27, 1931 in Bauxite, AR to Sherman and Della (Sheridan) Reid.
Lawanda married Bob Howard, an Air Force Veteran and they had a son, Kimm Howard. They moved several times and lived in Washington state, Austin, Texas and Blytheville, Arkansas. She won awards for the most beautiful yard on the base. She loved working in her yard and enjoyed the beauty of the results. She enjoyed military life, entertaining and making many new friends along the way. She was a very talented piano player and always ''rocked the house'' when she and her family came home for the holidays.
Lawanda was a very kind and sweet soul. She always had a smile on her face and would do anything within her power to help someone in need. She had a sweet, soft voice and never spoke a harsh word to anyone. Everyone who knew her loved her. The Heartland staff said that Lawanda was their favorite resident, commenting that she was always so sweet and soft spoken, regardless of how she was feeling. Many people were blessed just by knowing her and she will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched. She was of the Church of Christ faith.
Lawanda was preceded in death by Bob Howard; parentsm Sherman and Della Reid; sister, Elsie Reid Hunter and niece, Glynda Hunter. She is survived by her son, Kimm Howard of Benton, AR; niece, Dwanna Hunter Watkins of Benton; great nephew, Aaron Watkins of Benton and great niece, Kayli Watkins of Denver, Colorado.
A graveside burial will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Rosemont Cemetery in Benton, Arkansas.

So very sorry to hear of LaWanda’s passing. I was always told by my grandparents and daddy how beautiful and sweet she was back in the day. Condolences go out to my cousins left. May you rest in peace sweet LaWanda.
