George "GW" William DosterI am a Veteran.

of West Helena, AR

July 6, 1937 - June 25, 2024

George William (GW) Doster, 86, of West Helena closed his eyes this side of eternity on June 25, 2024 at his home surrounded by family and opened them in the presence of our Lord.

George was born July 6, 1937, being the oldest of 7 children, to Buddy and Pearl Doster. He grew up in Phillips County and spent many years living and working with his Uncle Curtis and Aunt Anna. GW worked at Mohawk Rubber Company many years until its closing. He then became the Manager of Wy-Camp Coop Fertilizer until his retirement.

George was welcomed to Heaven by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Donald; three sisters, Betty, Judy and Sue and an infant granddaughter, Haley Nicole Meiers.

He is survived by his two children, Jimmy (Penny) of Houston, AR and Teresa (Bubby) of Casscoe; His sister, Linda Goodwin of Houston, TX and He was blessed with many grandchildren that he loved very much; Jamie Ferebee (Phil), Blake Doster (Shaye), Clay Doster (Holly), Brooke Doster,Taylor Mannis, Kim Hauge (Donnie), Wyatt Shelton (Cristy), Dixie Shelton, Crystal Barnett (David) and Holly Pitts.

He was extremely proud of all his great grandchildren, Conley Ferebee, Estelle Doster, Kaleb Ferebee, Ian Mannis, Riley Bateman, Bradley, Jenna and Jayla Hauge, Maddie Shelton Staggs, Hunter Selton, Avery and Presley Barnett, Bella, Josie and Jace Pitts and Taylor, Allie and Garret Skarda and one great great granddaughter, Addie Staggs and his special fur baby, Lil Bit. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, special friends and extended family.

George accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized when he was 9 years old. He had often enjoyed Bible Study with special friends in his home.

He served in the Arkansas National Guard. He loved spending time working in his yard and flowers bed and could tell you when and where he got most of the plants in his yard. He had a passion for volunteering his time and labor at Odd Fellows Cemetery and you could often find a 80+ year old man leveling a grave and hauling dirt with a shovel, rake and wheelbarrow. He took great pride in his efforts to make the finally resting place of so many a peaceful and beautiful place.

A Visitation will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 at 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel in West Helena, AR. There will be a Graveside service Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery in West Helena, AR.

Jimmy & Teresa my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. I cannot remember a time your Dad wasn’t part of our Caldwell family. After your Mom and our Dad passed, GW was Mom’s phone buddy. She really enjoyed talking to him. You’re Dad was a great guy & will truly be missed!!
