Donald Hugh Hook was born July 26, 1953 to John H. Hook and Nan Beth Barger Hook in Memphis, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lisa Ellis Hook; children, Brad Hook (Amanda) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; Katherine Tooke (Aaron) of Greenbrier, Arkansas and three grandsons, Jaxson Tooke & Brayden Tooke of Greenbrier, Arkansas and Alex Hook of Jonesboro, Arkansas. He is also survived by one sister, Debbie Hook Holthouse of Miramar Beach, Florida.

Don graduated from Osceola High School in 1971 and obtained his BS degree in banking and finance from the University of Arkansas in 1975. He graduated from the School of Banking of the South at LSU, Baton Rouge in 1979.

After graduating college, he began his career in Osceola at the First National Bank. He retired as Executive Vice-President of Union Planters Bank of Osceola in 1996. He was a former member and past president of the Osceola Kiwanis Club, a member of the Osceola Chamber of Commerce and served on the board of South Mississippi County United Way and the board of the Salvation Army. He was a board member and treasurer of Presbyterian Christian School and a board member and treasurer of Mississippi County Christian Academy. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church, Osceola.

A visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church in Osceola on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with the celebration of life following at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church in Osceola, P.O. Box 393, or St. Jude Hospital. I lived in Osceola as a kid in the 1960s, and was glad to call Don a friend. I kind of looked up to him then, and in reading about him here, I saw a reflection of the good person that I thought he was. My sympathies to his family, and his sister Debbie.

Lisa, I have so many good memories of my late husband Jimmy Morgan speaking about Don. They were both involved in Kiwanis and had a great friendship. He was such a kind person. So sorry for your loss. Peggy Watson

My deepest condolences to Lisa and rest of the family. Don and I graduated together in 1971. He was a wonderful and caring person with fun personality. Know he hasn’t been in good health past few years and I’m sorry he is gone.
